• (2024-09-18) Jared Newnam: I purchased the pro license ($24/year) back in 2019. I loved this application. There wasn't a whole lot of work involved in getting a video started. The huge downside is now I am paying a lot more for this app and I was there from the beginning. Those of us that stuck with the company from the start should be grandfathered into the original price. Regarding the latest update... videos get dropped. The record icon in the toolbar always seems to have the red dot, even when I'm not recording. If I am recording the entire screen and I bring another app onto the same screen I'm recording, Screencastify stops recording. I have been using this software for many years for my students and now I'm looking for something new. I don't know if it's under new ownership, but the quality and ease of use have gone way down. I now look forward to no longer paying the yearly subscription.

• (2023-12-01) Lucy Brenton: Screencastify is the best recording software I've ever used... and I've tried at least a dozen. One of my favorite features is recording just the tab I'm in... then if I have to look at something in another tab it's not recorded. It allows me to listen in to the tab that's being recorded while I work on something else. Super easy to use, very intuitive. Definitely worth the money!

• (2023-09-12) noah king: Screencastify is the best screen recording software I've ever used. It has a simple interface with tons of features. As a teacher, I love how easy it is to make a screencast to share with students or colleagues. I also love the Submit feature, which allows other people to record their own screen and send me the video with one click, even if they don't have Screencastify themselves. There are tons of export options, too. such as automatically publishing my videos to YouTube or exporting them as animated GIFs or mp3s.
• (2023-09-12) Miranda Felton: Screencastify has everything I need in a screen recorder and more! I am a teacher, and started using the free version to record screencasts for my students. I then had students create their own screencasts using the extension on their Chromebooks, and it was a game changer to promote more in-depth learning, language practice, and more. My school district now pays for the premium license, and I can't say enough about the embedded video editor with the blur tool. There is also an awesome classroom feature that allows my students to easily create and submit video-based assignments. Super user-friendly- my second graders used it no problem- and so should you!

• (2023-09-07) Chad Alford: I have been using Screencastify for a few years and it was always reliable and easy to navigate. But as of the latest update where they claimed to have "rebuilt it from the ground up", it is now almost unusuable. When I end a recording my page disappears until I reload the web page. The recordings are now unnamed, the settings/options buttons have disappeared and all in all it is pretty much useless for me. Did you even test these changes before you released the update? Update - I am very please to say Screencastify is now fixed and running better than ever. Thankyou so much. I have updated my review back to 5 stars.

• (2023-06-29) Stephanie Reese: I've used Screencastify for some presentations during COVID and some other courses that I was taking. It was good for short videos but there is a limit and after that you have to pay for more "storage". If you don't have a lot of videos to record or long recordings then it is great to use. I have found it useful for my students by recording how to access some programs or materials and then posting it on the Google Classroom.
• (2023-06-28) Asher Nichols: Descript lied about being free, so I couldn't use it anymore, then I found this. This is much easer to use and can do more, plus it's not laggy when used with google tabs. It's even smoother than youtube!

With Drive upload, 30-minute recording limit for free, I guess no competitor out there can be compared with!! Teachers can benefit greatly from Screencastify Submit. I loved this extension- I found it during teaching online with Covid and it was amazing, so much so I have continued to use it and pay for it since. Until.... now. It has just updated its interface and it is god damn terrible and completely NOT user friendly. There is no point have a modern interface, if it so émpty' you can't find the controls. I know they were updated their subscriptions- but I paid it and wasn't aware that I would be LOSING any features. I will be looking for a new program and I am absolutely gutted. I want the old version back! EDIT- I have gone ahead and continue to struggle to use it. Its worse than I thought! When you stopped recording, a new tab would open while the video saved. You could quickly change the title, download, trim it etc. All very quickly and easily. Not only has auto stop disappeared. There is 3 or 4 windows that open and its takes x4 longer to do those simple functions. Its possibly now the WORST program on the internet. WHY DID THEY DO THIS???!!!!! Who thought this was a better functioning version? BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!

• (2023-06-14) Gage Kent: Unfortunately I concur with all of the recent reviews. Whatever changes they made ruined everything. Recording is now clunky and inconsistent. Half of the time I am recording, the option to "STOP" the recording goes invisible and I have to force the recording to stop by refreshing the page and clicking on the extension again. Half of the time my recordings do not sync with my google drive, which gets annoying because I have to download videos or even delete videos more than once. The only reason this is not getting 1 star out of 5 stars is the ability to download your recordings with the free version.

• (2023-06-10) Miguel Torres: Used to be GREAT! Highly customizable where I can choose quality or file size as a priority, would be great playing back and could save locally OR cloud. Now with the latest update? It's TRASH! No options... AT ALL! Like literally, everything is gone for customizing recordings, so everything comes out MASSIVE in file size, and plays back super choppy. NO LOCAL SAVES ANYMORE! Their support rep told me this feature is gone and won't be back, so looks like I will do the same! Don't bother wasting time on this. Use Nimbus, maybe I'll try Screen-cast-o-matic again (that updated too and got worse) or just use the BUILT-IN SCREEN RECORDER ON CHROMEOS! At least through 13+ OS changes that only improved, rather than getting worse. AVOID THIS TRASH!

• (2023-06-07) Andrew MASON: Loved Screencastify, made over 2000 videos for my students over the last couple of years downloading straight to my youtube channel. Sadly, the "Export to Youtube" button seems to have disappeared, so I will now need to find a different way of making recordings.
• (2023-06-06) mike soto: I don't know what they did, but it is all kinds of screwed up now. Hell the controls don't even show up anymore, they just disappear after you start. Then you have to basically reload the app which lets you reupload the vid you just recorded and THEN you can start editing. The app is just a total mess now. I don't know who approved these changes, but seriously you guys need to just roll back and leave well enough alone. The app was perfect before and did everything you needed, this update just completely screwed it up.
