Bookmarks Checker is so simple and useful: batch check your bookmarks, review them, and delete the broken bookmarks that are no longer valid. You can also check if there are duplicated bookmarks (bookmarks that point to the same URL). In addition, Bookmarks Checker enriches search results by adding the smart search widget beside the search results.
Here is how it goes : at first your bookmarks are "unchecked" (symbol : empty circle). Click on the empty circle next to CHECK ALL to start scanning your bookmarks (click again if you want to stop) : your bookmarks statuses will change to "success" (symbol : green circle with checkmark) or "timeout" (symbol : black circle with clock) or "error" (symbol : red circle with cross).
MENU
CHECK ALL : batch check your (unchecked |timeout | error) bookmarks
DELETE ALL : delete your (timeout | error) bookmarks. WARNING : NO UNDO
VIEW/HIDE : when working on hundreds of bookmarks or more it is handy to wiew or hide (unchecked | success | timeout | error) only the bookmarks you need to focus on.
TIMEOUT : the time each bookmark request has to wait before it is tagged as "timeout". Set this parameter to 1 second and the scan will fly... but many sites won't have enough time to respond.
You can also click on the status icon on a single favorite link instead of batch checking all your favorite links.
NOTES
When a bookmark is tagged as "error", there is actually no way to tell what is really going on with the site's server... but it is highly probable that your bookmark's link is dead forever. Bookmarks that get a "timeout" status should be treated with caution, even with a 60 seconds delay... never getting a response does not mean nobody is listening.
This extension is not a bookmark manager : you will not be able to add, edit, reorganize bookmarks. Use Chrome's built-in Bookmarks Manager instead.

- (2025-06-07) Lars Pehrsson: Whenever I enable this extension, some of my google search results leads me to trackr.com for tracking purposes. It took me a long time to identify which extension that was responsible, as it doesn't do it consistently,
- (2025-06-06) Gökay Mehmet: This extension intercepts your Google search queries and sends them to api.browsecraft.com/brands via a query-search-brands background listener. It then hijacks links to specific brands, replacing them with https://tatrck.com/* affiliate URLs to monetize your clicks. It's sneaky, invasive, and misleading...
- (2025-04-23) Detlef Mertens: Quick and fast TY
- (2025-04-20) Roger Paradise: Works much better than the other popular bookmarks checker. The other one had a lot of false positives. This one was very accurate all the way through in finding bad bookmarks.
- (2025-03-30) Tige Gibson: I didn't find any tracker using Privacy Badger. I just wanted to delete old bookmarks and it does that.
- (2025-03-22) Timm “TheBloodyAmateur” Stenderhoff: How is it possible that this extension suddenly activates redirects for tracking shopping and you are not informed? How can google allow this? It's outrageous. Redirects everything via tatrck.com
- (2025-01-13) Tony S.: Redirects browser traffic through tatrck.com
- (2024-12-16) ロリ(このはな綺譚): add Smart Search to search results page
- (2024-12-12) Markus Bäurle: Redirects google search results to a tracking website. I reported this malicious behavior to google and so should you.
- (2024-12-06) Shahriar Farkhan: This adds a tracker without declaring it will do so - tatrck.com - This breaks Google's requirements and should be flagged and removed from the store till they declare it so users know.
- (2024-12-05) Vlad Khodakovsky: Redirects traffic to tatrk and linkbux
- (2024-11-27) Jay Donahue: Redirects first Google search result to an unrelated page. In my experience, not even pages vaguely related to what the expected URL displays. Really Bad.
- (2024-11-24) Bernhard Lukas: It is still a very good plugin, but recently it began redirecting certain search results via tatrck.com (TakeAds). The problem is not the tracker, but the resulting URL gets called with affiliate parameters, so the extension owner gets a small provision from the "merchant" (i.e. the URL being redirected to, e.g. TakeAds => Publisher network redirect (Awin as an example) => Online-Shop). While this could be seen as a legitimate way of earning back some money for the hard work, it would be nice to give us, the users, the option of disabling/enabling this feature or at least mentioning it. Still, no problem for me after I figured out, that it is as simple as deactivating the extension, because I only use it from time to time and for that case I just switch the extension on and after checking my bookmarks I switch it off again. If the "search result enrichment" feature would be made optional I'd be willing to give it 5 stars. Still useful, if you know what you are doing or also if you don't mind the affiliate redirections. So there's no need to uninstall it. You just have to know how to handle it (easily).
- (2024-11-17) Yohei Shimazaki: Sends traffic to tatrck.com
- (2024-11-13) Mike W: Should be banned for spam. It hijacks your search results to deceptively add its own links.
- (2024-10-27) Humeid Al-Habsi: niiiice amazing app just what i was looking for
- (2024-10-08) Ronnie Campagna: I want to give it 5 STARS for usefulness and flawless functionality however I have to give 4 STARS in the hopes this inspires the devleoper to add the BOOKMARK FOLDERS as a list to the left side of the page. This would make navigation a breeze and actually enjoyable. This would allow you to navigate to your bookmark links quickly instead of having to scroll down the page which is cumbersome and not much fun! As it is right now it's more of a novelty but not very practical. If you incorporate this feature in future builds this will be a handy-dandy bookmarking extension for sure! for example: folder - bookmark - bookmark - bookmark folder - bookmark folder - bookmark - bookmark - bookmark - bookmark - bookmark
- (2024-09-06) Ryan McCallum: Works fantastic for it's job but can't give it 5 stars as it will occasionally advertise for manganum.app in a new tab every 3 months
- (2024-08-27) Jason Corl: Deceiving. Adds 5 results to top of google searches, no option to disable. Recommend uninstalling immediately as the developer is untrustworthy.
- (2024-08-03) Karel Nijs: Works very well, thanks!
- (2024-07-18) Lawrence Lessig: Worked like a charm on my 8,500 bookmarks (!) — identified dead links, and erased them super quickly. When I clicked the "duplicates" button (=), it did nothing. When I tried to run it, it did an Aw, Snap! Would be great to move deleted links to a separate file.
- (2024-06-20) Tim Niet: Doesn't do a thing except show a list of my bookmarks. To show broken links it puts a red star. But when I click on those links there not broken. Chrome Browser Version 126.0.6478.114 (Official Build) (64-bit)
- (2024-06-13) Andrei “Jorje” Gheorghe: The main page freezes and chrome shows “Aw, Snap!” message!
- (2024-06-12) Sherri B (Stashaholic): Freezes every time I try to do anything.
- (2024-06-02) Reetesh Vadodaria: Worked like a charm! Checked 1,000+ bookmarks in no time and showed all the dead links. I independently checked the dead links to make sure that they were, indeed, dead. Thanks to the BrowseCraft team for making this nifty extension available freely.
- (2024-05-31) Alex Zarnitsa: Freezes! Error code: 5. The main page freezes and chrome shows “Aw, Snap!” message!
- (2024-05-25) Farzad Alipour: Had to remove it because it was opening advertisement pages without consent.
- (2024-05-24) C W: Perfect way to clean up your bookmarks. Fast, efficient, accurate. Best bookmark app out there!
- (2024-04-13) Momzer: Unfortunately, did not work at all, loaded a blank page asking to "Try our new Chrome Extension" which had a dead link. I removed the extension.
- (2024-02-27) Rob: Reports about 40% of my many bookmarks as unreachable. Yet I click on the website name and reach the vast majority very quickly. Only a very small number are actually unreachable. I tried again & again with the same results. Not to be trusted IMO.
- (2024-02-07) Lewis Merit: Works, OK, but has some issues. It incorrectly reports redirects, and 'unauthorized' (401,403) as bad. Duplicate functionality works well. I would definitely perform a backup prior to using this tool.
- (2024-01-26) Parikshit Patel: Works Okay, however it always reports issue with Github URLs even though they are just fine. I wish it would allow you to expand/view details of bookmark and allow you to fix path pattern in URL and save updated bookmark. Also there is no option to collapse/expand/select folders you want to scan.
- (2024-01-01) Eric Chen: Very disappointed - will mark many reachable urls (many of them are Github urls) as unreachable, completely useless extension without this basic feature to work. Uninstalled.
- (2023-12-13) Robert Beaver: Functionally it works great. Unfortunately, it's constantly making connections to https://get.manganum.app/ which is being identified as dangerous from (I even got a lot of DDOS alerts, Dangerous Site alerts, etc.) If it were legitimate, I don't see Chrome on both Linux and Windows blocking the connections with alerts.
- (2023-12-05) Vitalijs Komarovs: Be careful !!! Check the links marked as broken before deleting them, many of them are workable !!!
- (2023-09-29) TT Ptit Bouche: Bonjour, Très bonne extension mais le petit bémol, elle ne gère pas les liens dans Speed Dial, dommage !
- (2023-09-24) Trionis Lux: I would consider this to be adware and harmful to bandwidth. Opens a new tab at random and serves advertising pointing at other apps from the same author.

- (2023-06-27) Pieter Harmse: This was somehow able to open a website (manganum.app) even though I didn't have this extension installed - the page said it was opened by this extension. Clearly some bad behaviour going on. Avoid!

- (2023-04-29) Steffi Kaizun (Skaizun): Seems to work, but, many of the bookmarks it cited, as being "bad" or defunct, do exist and are "okay." And, when I delete a marked bookmark that is genuinely bad/defunct, it does not display a warning (e.g., "Are you sure you want to delete 'such-and-such' bookmark?"); some may consider that a time-saver, but, accidents happen; at least, make it an option. I like that you can "hide" "good" bookmarks, so that only the alleged "bad" ones are seen, which makes it much easier to scroll through and verify by hand. Some websites that are marked as "bad," simply moved the given page to another location on their site (a frequent problem; webmasters should leave the page with a "redirect" so that apps like this and users don't think the content is gone altogether); certainly not this app's fault. Also, I didn't realize that I shouldn't have had the Chrome bookmarks manager open, though, in hindsight, it makes sense not to have it open while another program (i.e, this app) is accessing it (I wanted to update some links). Now, I don't know whether my hours long search and "approved" deletions through the alleged bad/defect bookmarks were saved or not! (i.e., I have to start all over again!) All-in-all, it worked, with the aforementioned caveats and cautions, especially, not to delete all the alleged bad/defunct bookmarks without checking them, manually!

- (2023-04-14) Neal Wiser: Doesn't work. It tried. It displayed the structure of a page that looked like it wanted to check the URLs and display some kind of results, but it crashed. Then it keep on crashing. Too bad.
