I have no association with Voice-In and just want to share my feedback for people considering dictation options for Chrome/Edge. This is a quality product, and the Voice-In team deserves praise. I've explored several dictation software options. In the hospital, I'm given access to Dragon Medical, which is obviously a top-notch product, but it's currently too expensive for my budget (I am currently not earning an income). I've tried other extensions/software, but many produced enough spelling/grammar mistakes to be annoying, not to mention they were often $10-15/month more expensive than Voice-In. With this extension, clear enunciation allows you to speak quickly and achieve accurate dictation results. Even complex words, like the medical terms I frequently use, are accurately recognized from the first use. Occasionally, a word may be poorly recognized, but this can easily be resolved by creating a VOICE COMMAND. For example, if "lymphadenopathy" is misrecognized as "lymphadinopethy," I can correct this by creating a VOICE COMMAND with "lymphadinopethy" as the input and "lymphadenopathy" as the output. After only a week, the VOICE COMMANDS I've created have significantly reduced dictation errors, even with uncommon medical jargon. Disclaimer: I am unsure if Voice-In meets certain legal standards for information protection, such as HIPAA, so I avoid using it for patient care-related tasks. I recommend investigating how your information is protected with this software. I hope this review encourages those considering the free trial to give it a go. For me, justifying the purchase of Voice-In was easy, and I would recommend it if it fits your needs. • (2024-03-02) Lance Mostert: I am blown away!!! honestly i am shocked at how good this works, speeding up my customer service big time EDIT - when using the custom commands, the app is duplicating my text even though its perfectly normal in the backend. Effing annoying EDIT - I found a complicated bug and let them know, it was fixed within no time. I am impressed with their commitment and dedication to fix their product. So back to 5 stars from me.

• (2024-02-05) Ken DANIELI: Update -- a month later and they are still giving out the horrible advice to use sentence case.  They need to fire some of the bad people and they need to reprogram the app to fix this capitalization issue. It slows me down all day every day. It is helpful to be able to voice type into the browser. There are several errors with this extension. The most prominent error is that it incorrectly capitalizes certain words that are not proper nouns over and over again.  The support for this advises me to put the extension into sentence case which will only capitalize the first word in a sentence and not any other word. But when you do that it takes words that are always proper nouns and makes them not capitalized, which is worse than the original problem. So the support gives bad advice and has done so more than once. There are several other errors with this extension. I have given them feedback on quite a few errors. They need more literate users like me who will give them highly useful feedback. Then they need to listen to the feedback and change their extension and settings and not give bad suggestions to their paid users.

I installed the free Voice-In but within days saw that it doesn't work on certain parts of certain websites. I then upgraded and have been very happy as I can now use all over Chrome, except Chrome store and for reviews like this;). It has recently stopped switching off so if I politely shout at the dog to "keep quiet" it also types that. So don't send without reading. It struggles to understand my pronounciation some days.

I have a chronic case of repetitive stress injury (RSI), and Voice In allows me to continue working. I used custom commands to replace 94 English contractions so that I do not have to do so manually. These corrections save time in editing. I shared these commands on GitHub (MooersLab/voice-in-plus-contractions). They are easy to add with the ``bulk add'' button. The range of built-in editing commands does need expansion, hence four stars.

After an extensive search for AI-based or desktop tools, I've found that this extension is the best. Some options, such as subtitling tools, are overly complex due to their additional features like captioning and video support. Voice In, however, stands out for its affordability and simplicity. It offers annual access for what other credit-based tools would charge you in a month. I tried the free version first, but the paid version includes advanced functionality like voice commands, text transformations, and keyboard shortcuts. Direct typing into Windows applications isn't possible, of course. Given that the native Windows dictation app is useless in Spanish, a web-based solution was the only option for me. My method involves opening a Google Doc, minimizing the window, enabling Voice In, and dictating as needed. Afterwards, I simply copy the text into Word. I absolutely love this extension.

  Seems like very many other people I am suffering the issue that it seems to deactivate after a few readings, even though the microphone is red. I'm continually switching it on and off and often that doesn't work. From the other responses it is clear that upgrading does not fix the problem, and people still suffer from it. This is really too unreliable and frustrating to use. I haven't seen a single response from the developers here, just complaints about that issue.

  Got no issue. Just wanted to say this is the best Speech-to-Text extension. It doesn't stop the dictating when I highlight the text to delete it, unlike Windows Dictation. And plus, it shows the preview of the text I'm saying. I would really appreciate it if you make this an app that I can install on my computer. I'm trying to find a perfect app as close to being good as this one but to no avail. Any other Speech-to-Text apps out there just can't hear what I'm saying properly. Please consider this.   Im Chrome Browser hängt sich diese Extension regelmässig auf. Man muss sie bei jeder 2. oder 3. Spracheingabe schliessen und Neustarten. Dann ist die Spracherkennung oft fehlerhaft und wird dann zeitlich sehr verspätet ausgegeben. Meistens dann auch mit sehr dummen Rechtschreibfehlern. Ich bin inzwischen wirklich genervt von dieser Extension, da ich sogar schneller von Hand bin als dieses Tool. Fazit: Eher wenig hilfreich und super nervig mit der Zeitverzögerten Ausgabe des Textes von bis zu 8 oder 9 Sekunden nach Spracheingabe.   First, I found that the default hot, ctrl-shft-9, key did not work until I changed it to something else then it worked fine. Second, I found that of 5 voice extensions I tried, yours was the only one that worked correctly with regard to capitalizing the first word of sentences. All others, including Google Docs, have a bad habit of making the first word of many sentences lower case. How did you manage to get it right! Even after you do a period or new line, many of others will start sentences with lower case which was a most annoying thing.
