Description from store Tired of reading? Want to hear correct intonation? Would you like to speak like a native? Would love to improve your pronunciation? Best free online chrome browser extension for English text-to-speech reader and pronunciation improvement. Pronounce will read aloud the text you highlighted, record your speech and play your record. Listen, record, compare and repeat, improve your English pronunciation. You can read aloud words, phrases or articles on any web pages. Replenish your dictionary and don’t be shy speaking anymore. You can proofread your materials. The voice changes on question marks, to sound as if they have a question. The commas are read as commas, with a pause. Pronounce extension helps you to look up correct pronunciation most easily and efficiently. Even if you are a native speaker, you might encounter words, phrases and even sentences that you want to pronounce better without spending too much time. The app provides quick access to the reader and a voice record tool with a player. Usage Select the text you want to hear and read. Click on the app icon on the top right; pop-up starts reading automatically, showing you record and play buttons to work with your pronunciation afterward. Also available via context menu. Select text and right click to open the context menu with an option to pronounce the selection. Technology Pronounce utilize a text-to-speech (TTS) system that converts English language text into speech.

(2021-11-18) Sarah Clark: Is this still functioning? mine stopped working a few days ago. It isn't the first time this extension stopped working, but it usually starts working again after a day or so. its excellent when it works.
(2021-11-15) Matthew Tedford: No contact information found so this is how I'll report a problem. App no longer works, no audio is generated when I tell it to pronounce something on any website. I other audio sources work within Chrome. I have removed and readded the extension. Chrome 95.0.4638.69 (Official Build) (64-bit). Windows 10 fully updated as of Nov 15th.

(2021-10-05) Angela Wyngs: This extension has the best voice I've heard on any of these type of extensions. I can't figure out any way to change the voice but it's a good sounding female voice so good enough. Update: after using the extension for a few minutes I noticed one fatal flaw that made me change my review from five stars to 1 it can't even completely read a few paragraphs it just stops randomly every time so it is useless completely useless because of that. Update: It seems this problem only occurs when you use the right click to select this extension if you use the button itself in your extension list at the top of the browser it seems to work perfectly fine, someone should fix this bug and then I could rate it five stars. Update: highlighted 6 paragraphs and clicked the icon nothing happened, so I did 3 paragraphs and it worked fine so apparently it can't read more than three to four paragraphs at a time, that's pretty lame so I'm deducting another star.

It will be much better if it can read full page highlighted text contrary to at present set limit of 2 sentences. I don't know the developer plans but if it is made open source, the opensource community can definitely contribute to make it a superstar!

(2020-12-11) Loi: I like this extension, it is thee perfect extension for folks who can't focus on reading that needs to be read out loud, But I do have a request to make, I think this extension would be even better if the extension highlights each words as the voice is reading it, so the user can follow along not just listen. :) overall it's all great!
(2020-11-11) Demonix Nox: I rated this extension a 3 mainly for this reason. It was working great until one day it simply stopped working. I used to be able to use my mouse cursor to highlight a word and then right click the selection and click "Pronounce" and it would read the selection highlighted. However, like I said, one day it just stopped working. I've updated the extension as well as Google Chrome and removed the extension and re-downloaded it. I've restarted and nothing seems to work. If someone could help me resolve this issue I would gladly redownload it and give a 5 star review. Thanks.
(2020-11-03) Rohit Saini: Not sure what am I missing. It says it is reading the text when I select a text and click on 'Read' but I am not able to hear anything. Do we need any other configuration ( speaker permissions etc.) ?

It seems the latest version got difficult. I really like the old version and was simple for reading, speaking, and recording. It seems there is an issue where you cannot record and recording option just kept loading. You don't hear your speech back. The pronounce extension menu became not friendly useful. Please check issues.

Seriously, my speech has been analyzed time and time again over the Internet and my pronunciation is about 95 to 97% native-like. Still, when I speak this extension catches words I haven't uttered.
