Downloads Overwrite Already Existing Files
All downloads overwrite existing files instead of adding ' (1)', ' (2)', etc. Includes fix to remember folders.
- Very similar to the original "Downloads Overwrite Existing Files". This one includes a bug fix so it will remember your previous download folder, rather than default back to your default download folder.
- Microsoft Edge Addon: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/dfnblaebmpjlokbkadgeaghajajidojj
- See source code here: https://github.com/zach-adams/downloads-overwrite-already-existing-files
- I am not responsible for lost/overwritten data. This does not compare the contents of files or the file modification time before overwriting, it only compares filenames.

Thank you so much, solved a problem for some of our work processes.
superb
thx, no idea which drunken monkey at google thought automatic renaming of files was a good idea. firefox works like this addon by default btw, google, sometimes you really could get the impression that you just don't wanna chrome to at least be as good as mozilla's browser.
Great and simple (3 lines of open source code) extension implementing what should be a setting in Chrome.

Es muy buena extension, la recomiendo muchisimo. Pero si tu archivo lo tenés guardado en alguna carpeta solo se sobreescribe y va a la carpeta de descargas asé que lo tenes que acomodar devuelta. Después de eso ningún problema 10/10
Getting this after losing 10% on an assignment because I submitted an older version of it without questions filled in. Boy, oh boy do I sure love having 20 different files named ASSIGNMENT_4 (1).pdf,...,ASSIGNMENT_4 (20).pdf No longer have that issue! Thanks!

This extension might conflict with a custom extension that uses "downloads" permission. However, the problem can be solved by finding the source code of this extension on github and appending it to the source code of the custom extension.

Fantastic extension, just works. Removes chromes annoying 'feature' where it adds a number in brackets to the end of the file name (1). This will save me the few seconds needed to remove this every time I download this file = massive time saving over time.

Chrome is extremely frustrating without this extension. The only problem is it breaks addons like Image Downloader Continued refusing to let it choose the download location because it's fighting it for filenaming. Still, for most normal operation the extension's amazing. Whoever thought we should have (1) (2) (3)+ copies of a single file instead of just overwriting or rejecting a download or prompting a rename is just bad at design at a fundamental level.

It's just a little thing, but I'm overwriting files 20+ times a day in my work. This extension has probably saved me a collective couple hours of time!

Beware! It overwrites silently! Should have an option of some kind of notification

THANK YOU. I was going absolutely ^%$( insane with the default behavior. I'm newer to Chromium and I'm using the Edge Beta which is exactly that. Now if I could run full screen naivety along with the URL bar and tabs without seeing that stupid X slide down when I go up to the top of the screen I think I will do okay. Why does Google hate such simple conveniences? Why do both Firefox/Mozilla and Edge/Microsoft keep pushing to simply follow their lead and decide if Google didn't care then they shouldn't care

YES! This solved a problem I had with Explorer, now with Chrome. 4 days working with IT and a simple google search brought me to Zach's add-in which is EXACTLY what I was looking for. My Excel Macro template can now work with Chrome exported reports same as it used to. Goodbye MS Explorer!
