  • (2019-11-09) Shaun Pankau: It works! Those having problems likely didn't read the instructions on the github page.
  • (2019-10-13) Angela Chang: I was able to open the CSV file on a mac by first going to the Extension in the chrome://extensions window, clicking on the extension details and "allowing access to URLs." Then, you have to open the file by browsing to your directory from the address bar because just dragging and pasting the URL does not work. I typed in /Users/username/directory in the URL bar, and then was able to find my CSV file and open it. My problem is that it isn't formatted nicely when you open it, and I was hoping to adjust the row height so that I can see multiple lines of the text in the cells. Oh well. It works. but it could be easier to use in terms of getting the CSV file to open and reading the csv contents.
  • (2019-08-23) Radley Sustaire: Doesn't work by URL. Allowing access and using a folder on my PC kind of works but is an inconvenient hack. Even when doing that the layout is awful, a csv with three columns and two rows which has a paragraph of text each only shows about a word and a half per cell. You can widen the columns but it does not support linebreaks (which csv files DO support).

  • (2017-08-30) Yuri Tommaso Refolo: Not working, should be removed from store. Great idea but too much time lost trying to make it work: would be simpler showing an [abandonend project] tag on GitHub and removing it from webstore, IMHO.

  • (2016-06-30) Kyle Johnston: You must enable access to URLs by checking "Allow access to file URLs" in chrome://extensions. The extension won't work otherwise! See instructions on the GitHub site here: https://github.com/rgrp/chrome-csv-viewer. Also, copy & pasting the link to the CSV file does not work but you can do it to the parent folder. Great tool, love it!

  • (2015-01-17, v:0.3.0) Shane Carr: Bug in click listener
In csvify.js there is the following line: if (evt.target.href && evt.target.href.match(/\.csv$/)) { Unfortunately this doesn't work for certain elements that return an object for the "href" attribute. For example, try making a page with the following element, and click on it: <svg width="100" height="100" id="i"> <image xlink:href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/84/Example.svg" src="" width="100" height="100" /> </svg> The chrome inspector says "TypeError: undefined is not a function". It's referring to the "match". You should make sure that "match" exists in addition to making sure that "href" exists.
