Description from extension meta

Sets focus to newly opened tabs.

Description from store This extension forces Chrome to set focus to all new tabs when they are created, a behavior previously not seen when a link was forced by the user to open in a new tab. The location bar should get focus now when you open the New Tab, unless you use an addon that redirects to a different URL. Please let my know if you have any other issues with this. Tampletop, what exactly are you looking for? I'm the developer for this extension, so if I know what you want, I'll try to put it in. Paul...I'm on it!

  • (2023-07-30) Robert Paulsen: This does much the same as the "Tab Activate" extension. Tab Activate has one capability that this extension lacks: With Tab Activate a shift-click reverts to the original behavior. Not very important but If you are on a page with multiple links you might want to open several of those links without leaving the original page.
  • (2023-07-28) Live Long & Prosper: One of those indispensable extensions that does its job, doesn't collect data, and doesn't need any special permissions. Absolute perfection.
  • (2023-05-11) Jan Hartigan: I really like this extension, but it keeps randomly disabling. The only way to fix (that I know of) is to manually disable and reenable the extension. Wish there was a true fix for this and I'd give it 5 stars easy.
  • (2022-12-21) Pepyk Balun: Při spuštění prohlížeče způsobí načtení všech karet.
  • (2022-11-12) H G: TOP STANDARD TIN JOOB. middle mous click and goes direct tho sometimes i wanna open many etsy etc pages then not direct so on off be good i just disable from the MIGHTY SIMPLE EXT MANAGER
  • (2022-10-21) 1V4N: Thank you!!! Why else would we open new tab/window but to switch to it?! Who opens a new tab/window just to have it quietly sitting in the background?
  • (2022-09-27) Christopher McBride: Perfect, this app does EXACTLY what you want it to do.
  • (2022-06-24) Lotzy: Unfortunately will conflict with tab groups, expanding them all on Chrome start.
  • (2022-05-09) Bob Elsasser: Thanks for this extension. Was using another similar extension but it has become unreliable (Tab Activate).
  • (2022-04-29) Darbo Scalante: I use to work like this in Safari. Now this extension brings that subtle yet amazing functionality to Chrome. Big thank you.
  • (2022-04-25) Len Kowalik: Had it on a previous Chromebook, and had difficulty finding it to add to my new one. As many others have said, I don't know why this isn't a toggle setting in Chrome. Google, are you listening? April 2022 update: Stopped working, removed and reinstalled, working.
  • (2022-04-16) John: Good for CTRL + T but doesn't replicate exactly how it is on Firefox which is what i wanted. Example on Firefox if you middle-click the YouTube logo on youtube.com it will open a new tab but not focus on it.
  • (2022-03-29) Esmo: It just works
  • (2020-12-30) Kris Walsh: Does what it says in a small package!
  • (2020-11-10) Joe Moody: Worked great as soon as installed!
  • (2020-09-30) Reality Check: I just downloaded this so have only minimal testing, but it seems to work well, quickly opening a link when I middle click on the mouse button and moving the focus to the new tab. I don't know why Vivaldi (which I'm also just starting to use) doesn't offer something similar as an option. Instead you have to either right click the link and chose to open it in a new tab that also gets the focus, or you have to use a keyboard modifier. I will say this extension may not be what everyone wants. Unless I'm missing something (like I said, I'm new to this) there is no longer an option to open a link in a new background tab. Even using right-click and selecting that option, it still moves the focus to the new tab. That doesn't bother me, but it might bother others.
  • (2020-07-01) Quentin Packard: Simple, fast, works as promised.
  • (2020-01-18) Ethan M: I only want a change of focus for new (blank) tabs. Otherwise, I prefer to load a bunch of tabs in the background before I navigate to them. Is there a configuration setting for this?
  • (2019-08-17) Jilly Wells: After chasing around the web on several different days, I finally got to this and it does exactly what I wanted - something that will get Chrome to switch to a new tab when I right-click to open a link in a new tab. I probably missed it at least once because I had to repair it twice before it would work, but it works great now! Why Chrome can't include this as one of the settings, I don't know, but at least I have it now!
  • (2019-06-26) Yuhua Deng: Very very good!!!!!!!! The left and middle buttons made me feel like a duck in the web.
  • (2019-06-22) Brandon Brown: Does exactly what Google failed to make it do! Lightning fast on a new MacBook pro, no lag at all. Great job Arctic Phoenix!
  • (2018-06-14) gene sound: Works fine!
  • (2018-06-13) Patrick Nelson: Works as it should. Very tiny and just a few lines of code, simply activating a new tab whenever it gets created. Problem is latest versions of Chrome seem to have a slight delay, meaning you click a link but it will not open for maybe a full second (which can be a bit of a nuisance)
  • (2018-01-12) Vincent van der Tuin: Does exactly what it says on the tin, simple and effective. I can't imagine why this isn't a standard option in Chrome.
  • (2017-05-04) Paco Goro: I'd like to have a black background when it loads the new page. White is to strong for the eyes at night. Thanks.
  • (2016-11-20) Wayne Brehob: This is an automatic install for any of my computers, and any computer I set up for someone else. Why would you open a new tab if you don't want to see it.
  • (2016-08-18) David N.: Fácil y cambia de pestaña SIEMPRE, no como otras extensiones
  • (2015-08-11) The best no frills and transparent to the user. As with each new Firefox tab opens in the foreground. Absolutely it does well what it claims to do. Thank you
  • (2015-08-11) Il migliore senza inutili fronzoli e trasparente all'utente. Come in Firefox ogni nuovo tab si apre in foreground. Fa assolutamente bene quello che dice di fare. Grazie
  • (2015-02-23) CountPacula: Does exactly what it says, and does it so seamlessly that you can't tell it was missing in the first place - and absolutely nothing more. Simple, elegant perfection.
  • (2015-02-16) Justin Jahns: An oldie but a goodie... A must have extension for me. Even works as expected with links within folders in the bookmark bar. I don't know why Google doesn't include this as a built in option within the browser.
  • (2014-09-10) Dennis Meredith: Like the man said, simple and it works. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  • (2014-04-19) Matt Renner: Works as expected on Win 7 Chrome, uses about 17MB memory with no active processes. Simple, yet good.
  • (2014-04-02) Alex Báhamaca: Very simple and it just works. Whenever I open a new tab it changes focus to it, as easy as that. No more finding where it opened just to be able to see it, specially when there's sound on that newly opened tab... great extension.
  • (2014-03-05) J.T. Brown III: It just works! Great extension. No issues, no options to fiddle with, no button clutter, just install and forget...
  • (2014-03-03) Jeff Cline: This makes all new tabs appear in front and ready to read.
  • (2014-02-10) Radu Drăgan: awesome!
  • (2014-01-22) Martin Gordon: Excellent - TVM!!
  • (2013-12-02) This program do what is suppose to do without any noise. Too bad Chrome Market aggressively promote other extensions and forget about this one. Even worse is that you can't find it on the market search utility. Too bad... too bad.
  • (2013-11-28) Sathiya Narayanan: super
  • (2013-11-25) Gus de Anda: Excelente, hace exactamente lo que dice, buen aporte
  • (2013-10-18) Ivan Jara: This is great.
