dataslayer
Description from store

dataslayer adds a panel to Chrome Developer Tools that monitors tag management data layers and displays changes in an easy-to-read, user-friendly format.

Supported TMS/variables include:
- Google Tag Manager dataLayer variable
- Adobe Launch rules and data elements
- Adobe DTM page load rules and detection
- Tealium data layer
- TagCommander data layer
- custom data layers (any variable represented as a JavaScript object)

dataslayer supports multiple data layers / GTM containers on a single page, including those in embedded iframes.

dataslayer also decodes and displays tags (including pageviews, variables, and click events) from:
- Google Analytics (including Universal Analytics / analytics.js, dc.js, and ga.js)
- Adobe Analytics / Omniture SiteCatalyst
- Floodlight

If you're using a beta or dev channel of Chrome, you can optionally enable blocking of captured tags to prevent data pollution.

For feature requests and bug reports, please either use the 'Send Feedback' option in the Chrome Web Store or reach out directly to [email protected].

For the past few weeks, I have been experiencing an issue with Dataslayer. After some time, it stops displaying newly sent events. The issue is temporarily resolved when I restart DevTools and refresh the page; however, this also clears the previously loaded data layers.

DONT USE THIS TOOL, it displays false results that didn't happen. Example: I'm on URL A and I click a button. -According to Google Tag Assistant (essentially the word of God), this click happened on URL A (duh, of course it did). -According to Dataslayer? Oh it happened on URL B, the place that the button click took me to. Thats literally impossible, but Dataslayer doesnt care. I didnt realize that the name meant that the data itself would be slayed until it's no longer usable. I've tried to capture my thoughts about how insane and ridiculous that is, but I keep failing to accurately capture it. It's nuts. This tool has major issues parsing events properly and the results is that it outright falsifies what happened and makes you question your sanity, until Google tag assistant confirms its not you, it's Dataslayer.

Lets you see events from previous sessions, which is what I needed it for.

The interface is really awkward. It would be nice to rework how the data is presented. Becomes hard to work with. But the backend is amazing. Just looked through the source to see how it gets all DEs. _satellite._container.dataElements Pretty cool. Didn't realize _satellite gave access to all DEs.

Really easy to use. Helpful tool for quickly confirming which events are sent with GTM.

We just identified an issue where this extension sometimes stops analytics tags from firing for Adobe Launched.

Sometimes using the GTM Preview mode feels a bit overkill for checking if some data layer push events or Google Analytics tags are present, which is where this extension comes in. It's an incredibly useful, no-nonsense tool which I always recommend to others when working with GTM.

Please add "- adds advertisement to google search results" to the feature list! Otherwise it stays a secret feature and no one will ever know this nice feature exists.

Sencilla y práctica. Para poder observar el objeto dataLayer de forma visual sin necesidad de inspeccionarlo a través de la consola.

It's wonderful but recently it has stopped working on my local dev site. It's showing the GTM instance but not the GA. The same code works and shows just fine on production site. Not sure what this might be as it worked perfectly before and I don't recall changing anything. Other GA debugging tool called 'GA Debugger' still works fine. Otherwise a really helpful tool.
