embedded videos stopped working everywhere and it took me a lot of time to find the culprit among user scripts and extensions. i guess another good extension gone

This is a fantastic extension! Well it WAS, anyway. Apparently it's now a crime against google to want to actually watch YouTube at better than 480p without having to manually fix it every single video. So youtube has disabled it. Hopefully I'm able to find something else that does the same job. Thank you to the devs of this extension!

Shameful failure. This extension’s dead, yanked from the Chrome Web Store, likely for dodging Manifest V3, Google’s mandatory standard. The developer knew this was coming—Google announced MV2’s replacement in October 2018, followed by a crystal-clear September 2021 timeline: MV2 extensions blocked from the store by January 2024, disabled in Chrome from June 2023 (Chrome 115, all channels), and fully deprecated by June 2024. Seven years of warnings, yet they sat idle, letting users down. High-quality YouTube fans are abandoned. There is no plausible explanation the developer can render that would explain what some could logically consider developmental neglect and/or possible maleficence, speculatively leading to the planned discontinuance or death of the extension, given it no longer being available. Explain yourself or fix it now!

Works on Brave. I used another but I kept having the overlay pop on 1 channel, Gameranx. My videos look sharper for some reason, I wonder if it really was using YT Premium's enhanced bitrate.

This version is not working for Windows version of Chrome Please fix this as I need to override youtube's auto settings I updated the extension but it is still not responding...Works great with Linux but not Windows...

thank you for this.... nice and simple. I just finally searched the right keywords i guess, finally figured out why EVERY vid starts at 480 now. I change it to 720 every. single. time... and sometimes it can even drop back down in the same vid. I thought it was comcast. Apparently google/YT limited quality to start at 480 in march or something to "save on bandwidth" in the pandemic. I didnt' realize the internet died and I didn't realize a server strained more to stream a video at a higher resolution. Ya, I'm being sarcastic. Bandwidth costs (and data caps) are total bs... This "app" makes sure every vid starts at what you set it to. And keeps it there... btw i could stream at 1080 but on a 27" monitor, 720's clear. Don't need higher than that.

After the YouTube revamp, the plugin doesn't work anymore and doesn't automatically select high quality.

Doesn't do anything. Wants success, have this ext. for quite a while, but YT manages to always start videos at the lowest res possible! It's set to Auto by default, this Ext is set to 1,440... it doesn't do anything. I always have to manually set the video res to the highest available, or I risk gettin' eye cancer from this pixel salad on YT, even with that (now useless) Ext. Uninstalled.

This extension changes how the paypal website formats how you input your mobile device code. Would be careful in using this extension!!!

Keeps defaulting to 360p

I would like someone to tell me how to make this extension work. I am tired of having to change every video on YouTube when I watch from HD1800p or higher to 480p or 360p so the buffering circle does not keep going around and around and the video does not stop and studder. [email protected] Please let me know how to get this extension to work on edge. I already tried turning off the computer after setting it and turning it back on. Still did not make videos go to a lower p. They still try to start up on HD1080p or higher which is a problem. Sometimes I want to ride my inside bike while watching music videos. I have to get off the bike and manually change the video every time. I am sick and tired of this.

Works perfectly for me! Thank you! Just set it to 2160p (4K) and if your video is in 4k it will play it in 4k. If not then it will play it in the highest resolution the video was made in, like 480, 720p, or 1080p.
