Chrome 71 removed the flag that enables per-tab audio muting. This extension allows you to mute individual tabs by a new context menu option or interacting with the extension icon.

- Cannot mute tabs when you're not on those you wanna mute. Sorry to say this but there's no need for this extension when you can enable tab muting on chrome without any extension. I suggest you google "mute tab chrome" and look for a thread from reddit.

- Honestly exactly what I was looking for after switching from Edge, who uses the mute tab feature. Not sure why Chrome removed it but glad someone made an extension for it thats very use to use.

- As other's have mentioned, it's currently broken due to a change in Chrome. Now it works to mute the site, rather than the tab. But worse, it can break your browser, which is why I'm posting this review - as a warning to others. While the extension's mute now works across a site, it is still separate from the built in "mute site" option, meaning you can't natively unmute a site muted with the extension. And since this setting is preserved, if you have muted any site and then remove or disable the extension, the site will stay muted. It would be easy for someone to disable the extension because of the issues, and later run into a muted site without connecting the dots on why it's muted. Additionally, it the control only works for the first tab opened for a site. Using it in any other tab will update the icon to say it's muted, but it will not actually mute. (Similarly, muting via the first tab won't update the extension icon in the other tabs.) If you close the first tab, the control switches to the next tab. But I found a situation where if I then mute this tab (the one newly in control), then use "reopen closed tab" to bring back the previous primary tab, and then attempt to unmute, it breaks all media playback. Videos can be scrubbed, but will not play. Edit: After disabling the extension, the native "mute site" feature will still not work for existing tabs. Closing the tab and opening it again seems to fix this.

- Great extension, I've used it for years, but recently discovered that chrome has a "Tab audio muting UI control" flag that you can click on the sound icon on the tab to mute/unmute only that tab. Since the extension hasn't been working well for a while, I'll stick with the native feature.

- Semi-broke with Chrome's recent update. As stated by someone else, disabling Global media controls control Cast start/stop can semi-help, but it's unreliable. I noticed mostly when having a tab with audio going and opening a new audio tab, that tab will often not have audio at all even not muted, and sometimes it will have audio but the mute button still won't mute it. My workaround is to pause all other active audio tabs and reopen whatever tab was broken into a tab (and even still doesn't always do it). Extension's been great to me throughout the years, otherwise.

- Very good extension, though mainly this is a reply to Demons Riot's post. There's a way to fix it. Go to chrome//flags and find "Global media controls control Cast start/stop" Disable that and it removes Chrome's new Media Control function that broke the extension in the update - muting individual tabs should now work as intended

- Broke with recent Chrome update. Using this extension for Twitch, and now all audio plays through one tab regardless of if it's muted or not. Edit: I have tested with Twitch, and removing the extension does not fix this issue. The tabs remain muted, and one tab controls the audio of all other tabs. All other tabs have the icon represent a muted symbol, even when not muted. Edit 2: This issue still persists. I've noticed one more thing, while using it, the singular tab that works has the extension showing the sound playing icon, but all other tabs show the tab muted icon, despite not being muted. I really hope this get's fixed soon because this is burdensome to constantly have to manage my tabs and adjust which one is playing audio and when.

- Does an excellent job when it works but if you have chrome running for a while the extension stops working, clicking on the pinned extension icon does nothing. Many others have mentioned this issue in the support tab. What fixes it is either restarting chrome or disabling/enabling the extension. I'm not sure if the dev has addressed or is aware of this issue.

- Love it, but sometimes I have to delete and readd it because if I mute a tab, it won't later let me unmute it and it's really annoying. But it works most of the time so it's okay, and readding isn't that hard.
