Brings newly created tabs to the foreground.
New tabs open immediately instead of in the background.

Chrome opens new tabs in the background and provides no option to switch to them immediately. This extension forces new tabs to open immediately. Basic, no frills, no extra features.

Thank You for giving us this functionality!! Makes my work flow so much easier!! Why this is not already an option built into Chrome (and some other Browsers) is really stupid on their part!!!!! BUT.....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Like others have said a lot before ----- Please make it have the ability to Temporarily Disable the functionality through the Extension icon!!! It would be VERY handy - To be able to QUICKLY turn it off for a few minutes, - When I needed to open a BUNCH of tabs at once when I am doing work/research. That would make the workflow even BETTER!!! Not being able to temporarily disable it took one star from being completely perfect!! This is FAR better than not having the option at all though !!!!!

This is something that should be in the Chrome settings by default. If I'm opening a new tab, of course, I want to see that tab right away.

The original Tabs to the Front had an enable/disable toggle option. It was incredibly valuable to me and I really want it back.

Definitely way better than that AI spyware, but not quite up to the level of the old extension. It would be nice to have the ability to temporarily disable the functionality through the extension icon, since it could be handy to turn it off for 5 or 15 minutes when I needed to open a bunch of tabs. The old extension had that before it went to the dark side. I'm giving this 5 stars to help promote it in search results, but with the missing functionality, it's really more of a 4-star for me. FAR better than nothing (and even nothing is WAY better than that AI spyware), but not quite up to what we used to have.
Like others have said, came here after the original tabs to the front changed to an AI program that wanted permissions it has no right to. Really this should be a default option in Chrome, yet here we are.
Apparently, the author of the original "Tabs to the Front" sold the extension to someone else for some reason. (Information is available in the review section of "AI Tab Optimizer Plus".) In the end, it's probably the malware author/distributor who got the right. The reason why "Tabs to the front" is automatically replaced with "AI Tab Optimizer Plus" is because Chrome believes that it is an updated version of the same extension ID, "Tabs to the front". We all "Tabs to the Front" users were lucky that Chrome was set to "not automatically enable updated extension if it requests additional permissions."

I came here and added this extension after the "Tabs to the Front" extension I had used for many years had been taken over by another extension with different functionality (not sure why that is permitted). This extension "Tabs to Front v2" gives me the functionality I needed. Very glad to have found this.
Excellent. "Fixes" Chrome's default behavior. Thanks for creating this! Like others, I found this after the original extension became corrupted with intrusive AI functionality I didn't want.
Works so far the way the original did. Hopefully that doesn't change. Strikes me as pretty sleazy that the old one was somehow taken over by that AI Tab Organizer B.S.
Works. The original tabs to the front was taken over, I suddenly saw AI tabs something asking for permissions, immediately uninstalled. Web Store security is not as good as it should be as this should not happen.
Easy enough. Simple and seems to work. Switched after original Tabs to Front was changed to some sketchy AI app.
Does exactly what it says. Why this isn't a built-in option in Chrome I have no idea.
Would be great if Shift+Middle Click would open the tab in the background, i.e. have the default behavior flipped on its head. Right now, with this extension active I completely lose the ability to quickly open a tab in the background, with the only option left being the context menu. Any chances this feature gets implemented? I'd be glad to help out.
Just installed it after "Tabs to the Front!" is now some weird and rather non-functional AI stuff. Very happy to find this small but very useful alternative.
Happy for this as the original extension now requires permissions to read all web data and uses AI to do a very simple task that should be a feature of chrome to begin with

I installed it. I configured it in developer mode. I used it by right clicking on a link and selecting the Open Link in New Tab command. The resutt was the link opened in a new tab, and the focus was switched to the new tab. Viola! Thank you and God bless you!

Tried this after Tabs Activate stopped working on bookmarks with the latest Chrome update. This no-frills extension works as expected on the latest Chrome. Works on both links and bookmarks.
