Browse the web freely with secure, private internet access using the Chrome browser extension.
The Surfshark VPN Chrome extension protects your browsing with a single click. Mask your IP address, block ads and trackers, and browse safely on any website with fast VPN protection, malware alerts, phishing protection, and more.
With our Chrome extension, you can stream content safely and ad-free. Our no-logs policy and vast server infrastructure ensure your security while providing lightning-fast speeds!
Why you should choose Surfshark as your VPN for Chrome browser extension:
Looking for a free VPN Chrome extension but want more than basic protection? Unlike many free VPN extensions that may rely on ads, trackers, weak privacy practices, overloaded servers, bandwidth limits, and limited security features, Surfshark combines high-speed VPN performance, advanced privacy protection, and a complete cybersecurity suite — built for people who want more from their online security and browsing experience.
Surfshark VPN offers:
✔️ FAST GLOBAL VPN NETWORK:
Our network spans 100 countries with 4,500+ servers, delivering safe and fast connections up to 100 Gbps.
✔️ IP MASKING:
Surfshark protects your IP and browsing history so you can do your favorite things without tracking or surveillance.
✔️ AD AND TRACKER BLOCKER:
Avoid ads and trackers and get a better browsing experience with our built-in ad blocker, which keeps your browsing clean and speeds up page load times.
✔️ COOKIE POP-UP BLOCKER:
Cookie consent pop-ups are annoying — our browser extension will automatically resolve the necessary cookies before they appear on your screen.
✔️ NO-LOGS POLICY:
We don't track what you do or where you go when connected to our VPN. Our no-logs policy is independently audited and approved by a third-party auditing firm.
✔️ INDEPENDENT AUDITS:
Surfshark is one of the few VPN providers that has been independently audited. Cure53 approved our server infrastructure, while Deloitte verified our no-logs statement.
✔️ PRIVATE AND SECURE BROWSING:
Our VPN connections are encrypted with industry-leading AES-256-GCM, ChaCha20, and AEGIS-256X2 encryption.
✔️ MALWARE BLOCKER:
Be aware of malware-infected websites. Malware blocker blocks threats before they can load and affect your device.
✔️ WEBSITE SAFETY SETTINGS:
Check your Google Search results for potential malware, phishing, and data leaks before clicking on them.
✔️EMAIL SCAM CHECKER:
Spot phishing attacks and email scams on Gmail. This tool also detects malicious links, reducing the risk of malware infections on your device.
✔️ DATA LEAK MONITORING:
Everyone should know if the website they're visiting has been subject to a data leak. Our extension notifies you about all data leaks the website has suffered.
✔️SPLIT TUNNELING:
Sometimes you may want to access a website without a VPN, and you can do that with our split tunneling feature, Bypasser.
✔️ UNLIMITED DEVICES:
Surfshark VPN works on an unlimited number of devices simultaneously. Protect your entire household with our browser extensions and apps for mobile, desktop, TVs, and more.
✔️ PERSONAL DATA MASKING:
Generate a brand-new online profile with an email address using our Alternative ID tool. Use it to keep your data safe on websites you don’t fully trust.
✔️ PROPRIETARY PROTOCOL DAUSOS:
Our in-house VPN protocol, Dausos, is fully post-quantum resilient and delivers up to 30% faster speeds compared to other industry-standard protocols.
✔️ PROXY SERVER FEATURE:
Surfshark lets you use proxy servers for quick, lightweight location changes directly through the extension. This gives you a fast, simple way to mask your IP address.

We are always ready to assist you with any questions you may have. We aim to resolve issues quickly and efficiently via live chat or email.

- I used to have Nord VPN but have found Surfshark to be much better. Only one question, why does it arbitrarily turn off at times and ask me to reconnect?
- Peter Tomkins
- Generally good but often asks for login info on either via taskbar or extension, if not supplied indicates not connected. However the other (either taskbar or extension} informs me that I am connected. This can become confusing, even after removing the extension, still often get asked to login after even having auto login setup.

- Works really well compared to free VPNs , I always renew every time and the price has stayed reasonable for the years I have stayed.

- Surfshark is a very intuitive in function. Great deals on a superior platform. Never have they spammed nor pushed anything at me. I have paid for three regret free years. It is installed on my 2 MacBook Pros, Iphone 16, Android test units. I use Arch Linux. "yay -Syu surfshark-client" or "yay -Syu surfshark-vpn-cli-bin" Google it.

- I've been using Surfshark for 3 years, but recent UI changes make it super difficult to use. It used to take just one click to connect to the needed location or keep my favorite location in the separate list. Now it is all gone and Core VPN functionality has moved to a small window, while ad blocking feature takes 70% of the extension interface (and I don't care about that, as I already have two different services for that). I downloaded and paid to Surfshark just for VPN. Super annoying. Please change your lead designer.

- i LOVE MY VPN. Surfshark, 50000 outta 10.. i know fifty thousand outta ten. i live in fl... need i say more? I saw the Wynns advertise it and never looked back. the software impresses me constantly. i think it is well worth the money, and last time i renewed, it was cheaper. Good LUCK OUT THERE!

- I don't like the new UI. It takes more clicks to choose VPN locations. And why did you put settings, which I use once and forget about, on the Home Screen? Whyyyy... Revert to the previous UI, please.

- Keeps interferring with other websites, pop up wanting me to log in to surfshark

- ACTIVE USER FOR OVER 1 YEAR NOW First the price is among the best. Especially with the great customer service, great connections and speeds in many countries, not just the US.. Additionally they provide regular upgrades that address user concerns for privacy and security. I have seen quite a few folks say they have issues with connections. This is inherent regardless of the VPN you choose. This has more to do with sites finding the server out of country and/or flagged the IP address as a known VPN address. If this bothers you, Surfshark offers you to purchase your own VPN and Alternate persona. Good Stuff! I would suggest an improvement that would help users alternating from networks they trust and those that are questionable. Rather than pausing or having to manually enter each address in the Bypass VPN list are these two suggestions. Ability to import addresses from a CSV file as you do for passwords. Often these secure and regularly used sites are kept there. The other is if you use the pause button have a button states "Add to my Bypass List". A window on completion would indicate "This address "https://your.utility.company.com" has been added to you Bypass list. If you want it to remain on your bypass list select Yes if not select No. Maybe not that specifically but hope hope you get the idea! Look forward to next beta release. (FYI you have the ability to participate in BETA or Post-BETA releases.) I have yet to have an issue with programing participating in the BETA program.

- I have been using Surfshark for a couple of years now. My phone, laptops and TV can be enabled with the Surfshark vpn, with differing country connections. My online banking is always via a vpn. I spend some time on some European media sites via their apps (my partner is German). Without the vpn I would not be able to connect to the streams. I have found Surfshark reliable, easy to manage and covers all the countries that interest me and provides some online protection.

- Rubbish ! have it on my tomson box, have to manually connect every time I switch it on, even though it is set to automatic, cancelled my subscription and went elsewhere!
- D4RK
- No matter what i do i can't get it to work if i use only the extension on my browser, (Proxy connection error "initial_request_failed") i have to run the desktop app in order to get it to work

- I have been using ss for quite awhile now and it has been a great relief! Optimizing this vpn is easy, user friendly and can guarantee you connections have great speeds.
- Jon Entwistle
- I notice that Surfshark does not allow me to access some sites that I regularly use although these are not malicious in any way. Any settings I can change?
- Doc J
- Sucks!! Constantly requests a proxy login when opening a new tab. What Is this BS?
- Trula Kinseth
- Unable to use Macbook programs, SS says unknown author. Also, it uses so much memory, I am unable to use it and another program. I'm truly frustrated.
- ycnan
- What is this update??? Instead of having locations as the prime focus (like it was in the past), the focus is now on some options you either turn on or not and have no place being the primary focus! Absolute garbage update!
- Nick Webb
- Huge issue with latest updates is the fact that I can not pin the "X country Fastest" and lack of ping display. It usually works, updates make it worse thou.
- Heiki Laur
- Does the work, cross-platform is the good feature
- Matt
- Poor UI design with half the window showing a list of warnings to turn on, simply not needed and should be hidden down one of the side buttons.
- ohar edwa
- They don't stop all ad's but they do stop a lot of things i look at all the time something to do with HTTP something i do not know what this i am not technical person and they do take of annoying ad's but replace them with there's i think i am going to cancel . I had ad blocker but they where to pricy . What i am looking for is a good ad blocker that doesn't take away everything i watch and of coarse there is no way to talk to a person everything is done by dumb electronics that can't solve any number of problems .
- Dodi Woody
- Unfortunately, Surfshark is not working on my laptop, and it also won't connect using the Wi-Fi hotspot from my phone. I paid for six months in advance, but based on my experience so far, I don't think I'll be renewing my subscription.
- Bethany Mumme
- For the price point, it's more than decent. Have had a weird billing dialogue prompting me to renew account, but I have receipt for 24 mos plus 3 more.

- Absolutely does the job as advertise and at very good price, especially when compared to competitors. I do appreciate the option to opt out of extra tiers of protection for an extra cost. I only wanted the basics for security, antivirus and access to content on streaming services outside my country. The ad block is the only thing I can fault. While it does a good job at keeping away pop ups, it does not work so well removing ads on YouTube videos which would otherwise be a huge selling point. It does this sometimes when on PC but I always get ads when using on mobile.
- Hamza Muhammad
- They said it is a free vpn, but when downloaded I found it totally paid!
- Eyal M.
- Absolutely does the job.
- Steve
- While this Extension is a good start it leaves a lot to be desired. One thing that is really annoying is that as time goes on it seems the connection gets slower and slower and just disconnecting and reconnecting seems to cure that so I'm not sure if it's a memory leak or whether there is something else that is wrong. Surfshark offers so much and is such a great VPN in so many ways but this extension is not it. It's a good first start but it needs a lot of work.
- QuayConcrete 007
- Can't use it on You Tube anymore so rarely use it Surf Shark.
- Charles Baker
- Not completely blocking the popups -- way too many for an app that says it will block them
- John Curtis
- Amazing

- Working great on all my devices and the interface is plain and easy to understand. Having the addition of safe search and antivirus scans available is a bonus.
