Description from store
Bitwarden is the easiest and safest way to store all of your logins and passwords while conveniently keeping them synced between all of your devices.
Password theft is a serious problem. The websites and apps that you use are under attack every day. Security breaches occur and your passwords are stolen. When you reuse the same passwords across apps and websites hackers can easily access your email, bank, and other important accounts.
Security experts recommend that you use a different, randomly generated password for every account that you create. But how do you manage all those passwords? Bitwarden makes it easy for you to create, store, and access your passwords.
Bitwarden stores all of your logins in an encrypted vault that syncs across all of your devices. Since it's fully encrypted before it ever leaves your device, only you have access to your data. Not even the team at Bitwarden can read your data, even if we wanted to. Your data is sealed with AES-256 bit encryption, salted hashing, and PBKDF2 SHA-256.
Bitwarden is focused on open source software. The source code for Bitwarden is hosted on GitHub and everyone is free to review, audit, and contribute to the Bitwarden codebase.

- (2025-07-31) Wonderful secure password manager
- (2025-07-30) App is decent but shoddy Chrome Extension that just spins have the time, doesn't 'see' many pw/username destinations...frustrating.
- (2025-07-30) I use various password managers for my client work, and looked for a separate password manager for my own passwords since the one I used at the time was giving me major headache on a daily basis. And let me tell you, switching to Bitwarden for my own passwords has been easily one of the best things I did this year for my productivity. No glitches, no problems, it just WORKS and it's super fast and intuitive! Switching to it literally took me a few minutes. But the time and nerves it's saving me is countless!
- (2025-07-30) I have tried several password managers but always come back to Bitwarden.
- (2025-07-30) best.
- (2025-07-28) Very broken on Vivaldi. Barely works.
- (2025-07-25) Mobile UI's should be illegal on PC.
- (2025-07-25) works like a charm! most important extension 2025!
- (2025-07-16) The new gui is not easy to use, autofill is the most common thing to do, why hide it in a small button. Otherwise it works really great but I do not like the new GUI.
- (2025-07-14) Has become useless. Full of bugs & idiotic decisions. The option to remove 'fill' button doesn't work, UI/UX are both garbage after Dec '24 update.
- (2025-07-11) broken last version, slow, bug...
- (2025-07-09) New passwords are not searchable
- (2025-07-08) Generator function is broken.
- (2025-07-07) The UI update where it has a tiny "Fill" button by default is terrible. There is a setting that makes it behave like it used to (clicking the row autofills for the page), but that setting only works once or twice before the extension just ignores it and reverts to the default bad behavior.
- (2025-07-07) I've been a loyal Bitwarden paid user for nearly four years. For the first three, everything worked smoothly. However, over the past three months, I've repeatedly had issues accessing my account, specifically with two-factor authentication (2FA). I set up 2FA using an authenticator app, but almost every time I enter the code into Bitwarden, it tells me the code has expired—even if I enter it immediately after it's generated. I'm using the same authenticator for other apps without any problems, so the issue clearly lies with Bitwarden. It's become so unreliable that I had to remove 2FA altogether just to regain consistent access. Support has been unhelpful and dismissive, making me feel like they assume I don’t know how to use the app, which only adds to the frustration. At this point, I'm seriously considering switching to 1Password or LastPass. Bitwarden has gone from a dependable tool to a daily headache.
- (2025-07-05) It just works well, thank you Bitwarden
- (2025-07-04) Devolution in progress. They were perfect and now they are slowly destroying up everything that worked. The new UI is literally unusable. I mean it. I've tried to generate password, found out it doesn't work and I don't understand what I need to do differently. I came here to say that your work just fills me with disgust and hate, and you actively made world worse.
- (2025-07-03) I've been defending BW to my co-workers as a solid product, but these updates are killing me.. Pass gen broken in web extension, broken redraws over FF , Chrome, Brave... These updates to the UI in the browser are getting away from the reason I loved BWs simplicity in the beginning. I'm afraid we're going down a road where I might have to jettison this product for something else.... :(
- (2025-07-03) The new version of the UI has many bugs, poor performance, and counterintuitive operation logic. After using it for half a year, I could not bear it anymore and have already moved away.
- (2025-07-02) Password generator is broken.
- (2025-07-02) Password generator requires re-installing the extension Great app though
- (2025-07-02) password generator no longer works.
- (2025-07-02) Bitwarden was such a great extension, but they have been changing the interface and now the user experience is terrible... I used to click on my safe logins and it would automatically fill the fields, now I have to click (sometimes) three times to be able to do the same action. Today I tried to generate a password as I always used to and it was so frustrating, now I have to choose if it's a password or an email address, and I have a list of pretty bad options to choose from. In the end, I wasn't able to do what I did so smoothly before.
- (2025-07-02) Very good service for password management. Highly recommend it. One of the best apps
- (2025-07-01) love this extension - but the password generator is no longer working. I use this constantly.

- (2025-06-30) Very good service for password management. Highly recommend it for anyone that have any kind of accounts on the internet. This kind of service will improve your security on the web, so long as you have a strong main password and generate strong passwords through the app. As of writing this review, there seems to be a bug with login in a very specific case. When you change this extentions site access to "On click", it makes it so all your login attemps will fail (At least it's the case for me). You will likely not encounter this problem if you enable Site Access "On all sites". 👇Steps the reproduce the login problem 👇 Precondition : - Don't be logged in Bitwarden on the extention Reproduction Steps : - Open your latest Chrome browser version - Open extention manager - Click on more options on Bitwarden extention - Change site Access from "On all sites" to "On Click" - Open a new tab - Open the Bitwarden extention login page (Might require two clicks on extention icon) - Enter your valid credentials - Click on final login button Expected Behaviour: - You are logged in your account - OR you are prompted to enter your 2FA code Actual Behaviour: - An error message is displayed to the user - Login fails
- (2025-06-28) Excellent app
- (2025-06-22) This is the best password app I've ever used. It does what it's supposed to do!
- (2025-06-15) Love this ! I use it everyday, love the integrated TOTP geature the most !
- (2025-06-14) I love Bitwarden, I've used the paid version for years, but every time there's an error (even if it gets fixed before I notice) on the browser extension you have to uninstall, reinstall, relogin with the yubikey, etc. This used to be a rare occurrence that just happened whenever the browser did an update, now it's every time the browser and bitwarden do an update and more often extra times. It fully breaks the extension, not just a security logout, so it's a bit of a headache. Otherwise a great password manager that allows for MFA device authentication and doesn't do some auto-login suspicious workarounds to avoid actually using your yubikey at these times.
- (2025-06-11) The extension is getting so much worse over time. as much as I love the service, the extension tends to become unresponsive from time to time.
- (2025-06-09) Please add synchronize bookmarks in app
- (2025-06-07) Still asking to save Already saved passwords.
- (2025-06-06) I loved Bitwarden until some upgrade a year ago stopped the auto fill for some websites. Yesterday I had to delete Firefox and start using Chrome which doesn't seem to work well with Bitwarden. There is no autofill at all that I can figure out. And the extension download isn't functioning. I still love you guys but can you fix this? Thanks
- (2025-06-03) Thanks for updating the font, looks much better now :-)
- (2025-06-03) The extension isn't working. I can't save new notes. Please fix it
- (2025-06-02) This truly, truly superb password manager has two flaws: (1) It routinely re-sets the user's selected timeout setting back to a default to lock access to passwords upon quitting the browser. This occurs in all versions in all browsers. It is far safer to have it timeout after 30 minutes, so that if you walk away, your passwords become (at least after a time) inaccessible to anyone who happens to have access to your computer. Besides, it is bad programming to tolerate having the extension arbitrarily reset one's chosen security settings. Be sure to check your timeout settings daily if you use Bitwarden. (2) The recent update incorrectly moved the button used to check whether a password has been breached (has been found on the dark Web) from being readily available on the first page of the vault, to being five clicks away in the "Edit" function. (That's how many clicks it takes to get to the button and back.) It should be handily available to be clicked at every use.
- (2025-06-02) Pretty good for a free app. Could you please allow to multiselect and delete the items in one shot? My mouse is broken deleting every item...
- (2025-05-30) Lately the extension will just hang and never display the login prompt. You click on the icon and just get an indefinite loading spinner - all started after the redesign happened. Turned from something that saved me time to a time sink.
- (2025-05-28) the Extension is awesome! I have a few suggestions though: - bring back clicking the whole entry to fill the user/pass (instead of the new fill button) - make a way to avoid overlapping with other password managers (like apple passwords)
- (2025-05-27) Long time paying Bitwarden user. Thank you for bringing back the ability to just search when it first opens from the keyboard shortcut. The best manager out there
- (2025-05-23) it's great but still there is a place of improvements. auto-fill is conflicting with 'show autofill suggestions on form field' setting. when login I have to unlock desktop version and browser extension separately and windows hello authentication sometimes hangs. So have to input my secured masterpassword every time, which is a bit annoying.
- (2025-05-21) The extension is perfect for passwords and passkey management. It's also handy in generating passwords.
- (2025-05-19) Very useful extension, but the lastest GUI change is just extremely annoying. Clicking an item should fill in userid and password, that's what you do most often. The tiny button should be for editing
- (2025-05-17) I have been using this extension for some years, but only today created an Identity for the first time - to complete the fields in https://helenegrimaud.com/contact/. Unfortunately, they were completed in the wrong order - could they be named in French and that caused confusion? I'll try it on other sites, but it would be nice to have this one sorted for other users.
- (2025-05-16) Great free version & its Open-Source too (that's the biggest advantage, IMO).
- (2025-05-16) Great free version. My only criticism is it seems the chrome extension passkey option is only available if you have the windows BitWarden app installed and open which sort of doesn't make sense.
- (2025-05-13) Overall, this extension is fantastic! I've used a few different password managers and Bitwarden has been the best. One thing I really wish they'd do is when you click on the icon to bring the extension dialog up would move keyboard focus to the search bar in the plugin. This worked on Windows, now I'm on MacOS and it doesn't which is frustrating as I'm used to it being given focus. If it could be added, that would be great.
