This is a really simple extension for the Google Chrome browser. It adds a button to the toolbar, a context menu entry and a keyboard shortcut that allows you to move a tab to a new popup window.
A popup window is a window without the navigation and the tab bar, so it will use much less vertical space. Because there is no toolbar visible inside a popup window, you need to use the context menu or the keyboard shortcut to move it back to a normal window if you want to. It will then try to attach it back to the window it earlier was detached from, and if this fails, for example because the window was meanwhile closed, it will attach it to the last focused window.

- (2025-02-10) Ryan: this is a perfect extension, This extension specifically is the ideal, platonic form of what a chrome extension should be, It's snappy, fast, minimal UI, never glitches, customizable keyboard shorcut, even the options menu is perfect and minimal it takes away from the visual clutter rather than adding to it Unlike most modern bloatware, this extension, without begging for attention, quietly does its job and it executes that job perfectly Every other software company in the world should look at this extension and aspire, dream that they'll ever make anything this clean, simple and effective
- (2025-02-03) Maxi: nooooo why does chrome say "This extension may soon no longer be supported because it doesn't follow best practices for Chrome extensions." πππ

- (2024-11-01) AndyβT T.: Woaah why haven't I discovered this extension earlier?! It definitely helps me focus on one window when I'm on a larger monitor. Please protect this extension!
- (2024-10-23) Samson oketch: Nice extension. But I would have loved it with a setting to enable and disable the three control buttons - Minimize, Maximize and Close, so I can use it as kiosk. Two, I am trying to figure out how i can create a short-cut to a kiosk app where the shortcut can open the page directly in this extension hence looking like it has somehow "bypassed" the browser.
- (2024-10-21) Elijah Shaya: Protect this Extension. This is an amazing extension for maximizing screen space
- (2024-10-08) Markus: Does what it says on the tin
- (2024-09-28) Ahmed Elsaeed: perfect for saving space when multitasking
- (2024-09-23) Maxim Dragan: A great solution for saving space on a small screen. The main thing is that it has been working flawlessly for so many years!
- (2024-07-13) -: Great for websites like Youtube Music - will make it look more like an app with a separate YouTube icon in the taskbar. Much less confusing than having Chrome icon with websites hiding inside.
- (2024-07-05) James Friedman: I have two persistent applications that I run for reference. One pulls from a database, the other includes an iframe whose source is a third-party entity. Both work perfectly as a pop-up using this Chrome extension. They are small, unobtrusive, and do not conflict with the main Chrome browser operations. If they were displayed in Chrome browser tabs, even if pulled from the main browser window, there would be problems, as I access Chrome and specific tabs programmatically. All of which is to say that this is an excellent extension. I was using a Firefox pop-up extension but then Firefox started cluttering my workspace with crash report windows. Firefox is now uninstalled. This Chrome extension is here to stay. If all is well after a month I'll make a donation - will be well worth it.
- (2024-06-16) Jack z: Just want to say this is GREAT, I loved it, I was looking some to recmove URL and tab bar all together, this get rid of URL and make the tab smaller, but if you can make it even smaller or disappear all together that would be even better. But I also understand that if tap bar does not exist then there would be no way to move it and drag over the place, maybe you can give it like a tiny square on left or right somewhere that does not take any extra space on top but part of the brower that can be used to draw into places. This would be very useful for someone like me who have 6+ brower open at once on screen, where all data displaced are equally important.

- (2024-03-03) Mainr: Does anyone know how to hide the actual title bar (the bar with the window name and maximize and minimize button etc) once i've opened a page as a popup? I've tried using autohotkey with WinSet, Style, -0xC00000, A but at least with a youtube page, there remains a title bar at the top, I think this is something to do with chrome rather than windows, as it works on some other programs like notepad etc, it's kinda funky on file explorer tho
- (2024-02-26) Gus Leonard: Excellent tool making it possible to watch my corporate GoogleChat threads without the overhead of a full browser window.
- (2024-02-17) Francisco Etcheverri: It says what it does, and does what it says, a simple and awesome extension.

- (2022-12-21) Brian Neate: I use the fantastic extension every day! It would be great to have an option to open certain urls (url regex patterns) in popup windows since I usually use this for meeting invites and need to click the open tab as popup button every time.

- (2022-11-30) Scott Crunkleton: Simple, does what exactly what it says and it does it well. Pair it with some "always-on-top" desktop environment tooling, and you have a great picture-in-picture solution for watching videos/movies/etc while doing other stuff.
- (2022-11-15) Chris A: Does exactly what it says it does. It opens the window you're viewing in a popup window. This effectively removes the tabs and the navigation bar, making my Jupyter Notebook appear much cleaner. Thanks Dev! Note: In my case, after installing this extension, the toolbar button which launches the extension didn't show in the toolbar. If that happens to you, click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar to open settings and click on the thumb tack icon next to the name of the extension.
