Description from store This extension adds a button to your browser toolbar. Click the translate icon whenever you want to translate the page you're visiting. The extension also automatically detects if the language of a page you're on is different from the language you're using for your Google Chrome interface. If it is, a banner appears at the top of the page. Click the Translate button in the banner to have all the text on the page appear in the new language. Learn more about Google Translate at http://translate.google.com/support/?hl=en By installing this extension, you agree to the Terms of Service at https://chrome.google.com/extensions/intl/en/gallery_tos.html NOTE: Please do NOT try this extension to translate this page or other pages on https://chrome.google.com/extensions. It does not work because Chrome does not allow extension gallery pages to be scripted. UPDATE(v1.2): Now you can change the extension options to enable automatic translation or prevent the banner automatically popped up for specified languages and web sites.

  • (2025-09-04) Francesco Amendola: Does the job, pretty handy
  • (2025-08-27) Jonathan M.: It used to be THE greatest translator out there but Google did a Google and ruined it! In the good ol' days one could highlight any piece of text and the always-handy-never-obtrusive pop-up window offered a quick, accurate translation - with sound an all! Now I'm forced to open a new window, drain RAM (God knows Chrome needs it) and waste some precious seconds doing what should take an instant. I hope whoever thought it was a good move is having a laugh, because I'm not.
  • (2025-08-19) parham mehrabi: i often open my local PDF files using chrome and when i select something to translate, the extension suggest opening a new tab in google translate for the word but there would be no pop-ups(even though i grant access to url files). that would be a huge upgrade if you could just translate on select for local files as well.
  • (2025-08-19) Yogesh Gulati: I recently started using this translation tool for my website, and let me tell you, it’s been a game changer! As someone who wants to reach a wider audience, having everything in multiple languages was crucial for me. This tool made it incredibly easy to translate my content without losing the essence of my message. What I really love is how user-friendly it is. You don’t need to be a tech whiz to figure it out! I just plug in my text, choose the language, and voilà! The translations come out smooth and natural, which is so important when you're trying to connect with different cultures. Plus, the accuracy was impressive. I’ve tried a few other tools before, but this one really stands out. It keeps the tone just right, which makes my readers feel like the message was crafted just for them, no matter the language. If you’re looking to expand your website’s reach and make it more inclusive, I highly recommend giving this tool a try. It truly feels like having a little piece of magic at your fingertips! I also use in my website https://narratoria.blogspot.com/
  • (2025-08-18) Miguel Toro: This doesn't work anymore because I have a new computer.
  • (2025-08-14) Hristo Botev: It's so much harder to use now. It won't translate the full page but I have to select and wait and it might eventually show me translation on the selected text. If I have to read a full page, this is a lot of work. This plugin is no longer useful.

  • (2025-06-19) T V: When I secondary click on a text and hit "Translate", it just opens Google Translate in a new tab. I expected it to be a popup within the same context of the page. But when I hit the extension icon at the toolbar, it DOES open a popup. But there's no option to configure it to always do the popover.

  • (2025-06-03) Marvin R.: If somebody else missing the old whole page translate: There is a beta release of TWP translate (famous on Firefox) released on Chrome. It's open source. Search for "github Traduzir-paginas-web releases" to find the Chrome store link.
  • (2025-06-03) Oliver C: What happened?! Earlier this year you removed the page translation button because you said it was "built into Chrome" when it wasn't. Now it can't even automatically detect the language of any text I paste in; it always just defaults to English, even if the text uses a non-Latin script such as Chinese. Google, you just keep getting worse and worse by the second. I can't believe this is happening. You're dropping your carbon neutral pledge for, what, AI? That thing that can't even properly answer simple questions?
  • (2025-06-02) Technologic Ye: While this extension works, the Web Store page for it has false advertising because even though the thumbnails show that the extension can translate whole pages, the extension cannot do that anymore because Google replaced the feature with text saying "Page translation is built into Chrome", with a link to learn more about Chrome's extra translation features. As a result, it can now only translate words or sentences from a page.
  • (2025-06-01) Explorepedia Explorepedia: As someone who frequently encounters French text, whether it's for travel, work, or just trying to understand a recipe, Google Translate has become an indispensable tool in my daily life. And when it comes to French to English translations, it truly shines, earning every single one of its five stars. The accuracy is consistently impressive. I've used it for everything from quick phrases to entire articles, and it almost always provides a natural-sounding and contextually appropriate translation. Of course, no machine translation is perfect, but Google Translate gets remarkably close, especially with common idioms and nuances that other tools often miss. It's incredibly reliable for getting the gist of a conversation or document, and often, it's spot-on even with more complex sentences. What truly sets it apart is its versatility and ease of use. I can type, speak, or even use my camera to translate text on the fly. The camera translation feature, in particular, is pure magic when you're staring at a French menu or a street sign and need an instant understanding. The speed at which it processes translations is also fantastic – there's virtually no waiting time, making it ideal for real-time communication. For anyone needing to bridge the language gap between French and English, whether you're a student, a traveler, a professional, or just curious, Google Translate is the gold standard. It's intuitive, powerful, and incredibly effective. It has saved me countless times from confusion and has opened up so many opportunities for understanding and connecting. Highly, highly recommend!
  • (2025-05-31) Alfian Alfarezi: Where is the side panel. Why its just show little pop up who doesnt usefull. what is the purpose of this if it doesn't even help
  • (2025-05-30) Yu Yue: generally great, but sometimes it stop working on my edge browser, especially for long sentences.
  • (2025-05-29) J K: Stopped working. I cant see any option to translate marked text and pop-up icon does not appear
  • (2025-05-29) Robert Stone: As a teacher in high school I have to recognized this amazing tool that Google provides. The Google translator is epic in our classes for those students that are ELL and need to understand in their own language the class. Google translator have provided me with a more comfortable way of me transmitting the topic in class for the students that have difficulty understanding our main language English. We do not have a lot of foreign students, but their is always a few that comes in and out of the school and they need help. Google translator provides a written and voice translation by only using the phone and looking at the phone screen. AMAZING TOOL, I hope Google continues innovating with similar tools so all the students can benefit, specially those students that have some disabilities.
  • (2025-05-28) Viktor Pantazis: Horrible...
  • (2025-05-27) Kashvi Arora: Can't see it and it also doesn't translate some sentences.
  • (2025-05-26) Kiba Zatzue: it only works for languages you speak... for example: I speak spanish and a little english, and Google Translate Extension automatically translate pages in spanish to english or from english to spanish... which is kinda useless and annoying for me... but Google Translate Extension never translates pages from languages i don't speak; like chinese or russian... the icon for translation doesn't even show and I have to use workarounds to get a translation. Configuring automatic translation for those languages doesn't work either.
  • (2025-05-20) Yuval Cagan: Icon doesn't always pop up, and right-clicking opens the translation in a new window. There should be an option to change the target language, and not only the source language, without having to change the extension's settings or opening a new tab. I, for instance, put English as my default target language for translations (as it works best), but since I'm not a native English speaker, I seldom want to translate English words to my native tongue, which becomes a hustle.
