When you install StayFocusd, it will ask you to grant a number of permissions, including “Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.” This permission is required in order for StayFocusd to run on any site which you may visit—without this permission, StayFocusd would not be able to block websites. While this permission technically grants StayFocusd the ability to read and change data, we will never collect personal data from the web page content that you are browsing.

- App used to be decent albeit slightly buggy (e.g., it occasionally wouldn't start the timer when it was supposed to), but has become pretty much unusable since I updated to Tahoe about a week ago. It now often forgets all of the sites that were supposed to blocked, and also sometimes blocks all of my restricted sites way too prematurely and broadly (e.g., have a few sites that each have their own 30min restriction, but all become blocked after spending ~5 minutes on a single one of the sites). Bummer!

- It used to work better. For example, when I’m on a website that is in the block list and the time runs out, that site is correctly blocked. However, when I switch to another tab, websites that are not in the block list often get blocked as well. Even when I switch tabs again, those pages may also be blocked. If I use the browser’s “Back” button, the page briefly loads, but then the block screen appears again instead of the actual site.

- I honestly loved this extension until they started to AGGRESIVELY push ads; It was so aggressive that I originally thought I caught a malware, then I noticed the stayfocusd logo. I was on a site called newrecruit, and it was literally covering half the content; something called Luna Ad Blocker, "By Stay Focusd". I love this app; but i think i am gonna delete it.

- It's not working. Very frustrating. All I wanted it to do was block me from using a particular website during certain hours of the day. So I added that website to the blocked sites list, selected all days of the week, and selected the hours that I wanted to be blocked. First source of frustration was having to wait 24 hours for the hours to take effect so I couldn't benefit from this plugin on the first day. So I waited a full day and it's still not doing anything. Instead it's doing an hour long time limit on the site even though I never wanted an hour long time limit. I just want it to block me during the times I requested. Very simple need that it's not helping with. If I'm doing something wrong, it's not intuitive at all. I was able to figure this out with LeechBlock in about five minutes.

- Could have easily been a 5 stars but there is an issue where if i select the block all except the whitelist apps, it just block the dashboard itself essentially stopping us from setting the whitelist.

- I blocked the stayfocused so that I don't open it to delete websites. Now I get this. Action Required Our Terms of Service have changed. Open the settings page to accept them. I cannot open the extension to accept them. I am not able to add new sites to block list.

- Long time user of this extension, I recently discoverd that since it was aquired it is scanning your traffic for god knows what. The embedded asset `youtube_hulu_vue.js` scans your traffic on site and reports back to mothership. - Love this extension. It has quite literally changed my life. However, it has started to interfere with other sites that shouldn't be blocked. I think this happens when I move to another tab while the "Shouldn't you be working?" page loads. Recently (i.e. in the past few weeks), the loading of this page has been *incredibly* slow, particularly with loading the usage graph (e.g. 20-30 seconds minimum). I find that until the graph loads, I can't use any other tab or otherwise they will also get accidentally blocked. Once the graph loads, I can hit back on whatever tab was previously blocked and it's no longer an issue.

- The plugin has a bug. When the timeout reaches it displays a message on the same page, but than if you switch to another page, a lot of times you would see that message on the other page. Not only that, it will be impossible to go back to the original page. A lot of times, this will happen again and again and again on different pages not even related to the original website which supposed to be blocked.

- The December 21st 2025 update has a glitch that causes me to not add any websites to the blocklist. The "add list" option doesn't work. I deleted and reinstalled the extension and the same problem came up. I then turned off a bunch of extensions and nothing changed. Chrome's updated to the newest version as I write this, so I dunno what to do. I may have to use another extension, which sucks as I've been consistently using this since late 2020.

- Such a nice extension to stop yourself from roaming around websites and focus on your work ...also i really like the warning part where i was changing settings of my blocked websites and it was like "are u sure u wanna do this??" also "i'm telling your mom" ...i kinda like the warnings ..it's a fun to use this extension

- This is just doing WAY too much. I hate it. And it just redirects you to a tab with a snarky comment saying "Shouldn't you be working?" thereby NEGATING THE WHOLE POINT of avoiding distractions. There is no way to disable this. This plugin SUCKS.
