Makes mailto: links open a Gmail™ compose window. Nothing more, nothing less.
This extension will make mailto: links open in a Gmail compose window. Nothing more, nothing less.
* Supports Google Apps accounts
* Works on javascript-inserted links
* Includes option of working on bcc: fields
It supports to, cc, subject, and body (and optionally bcc) fields, and is made to be compatible with RFC2368, the mailto: scheme standard.
It doesn't modify the mailto:address itself, so you can still see the link in the status bar when you hover over it, which allows you to easily read the target at a glance.
Please note, this extension doesn't need or provide any access to your mail account. It just makes links open in a Gmail account that you are already signed into. This extension can't help with mailto links outside of chrome.

Recent changes:
* No longer need to refresh tabs on install, or after updating settings.
* Updated code to avoid deprecation warnings, and warnings in console.

- (2023-04-04) Matt Faraday: Used to work. Now doesn't. And yeah I restarted the browser. Now if I click a mailto link on a website, it takes me to a browser page that says This site can’t be reached The webpage at https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?tf=cm&to=***SOME EMAIL ADDRESS***&cc&bcc&su&body&fs=1 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. I can access gmail just fine though.
- (2023-03-22) Matt Kanninen: Works for me, I chose the force open in new window option, went back to the page I wanted to test, refreshed the page, clicked the mailto link, and got a new gmail window open in chrome, exactly as desired.

- (2021-08-22) n ascentt: sadly doesnt work for me
- (2021-04-22) I love this plugin but for a while now, every time I click on an email address, multiple (up to 5) browser tabs are opened. This is quite annoying. Does anyone else have this problem or can you fix it?
- (2021-03-19) A AA: Works fine for me for pages on the web, but not for links in files stored locally (e.g. an HTML file on my Windows computer desktop).
- (2020-10-01) Bethany Figueroa: Update Oct 2020 - Works in my Google Chrome v85. (You have to restart browser after adding this extension.) You also may need to go into Windows default apps protocols and change your Mail to Chrome or a different browser I guess.
- (2020-08-04) Ilga: Funktioniert prima auf dem aktuellen Chrome Browser und Windows 10. Vielen Dank
- (2020-07-09) Ty Brown: I was hoping that this extension would cause mailto links to open in gmail. It does not do that. It does not do anything as far as I can tell.
- (2020-06-24) Thomás Inskip: Excellent! Opening Apple Mail every time I clicked on a mailto: link was annoying. This works much better.
- (2020-03-28) John McCarthy: Give an option to remove from Menu bar. This app would be perfect if it had that! I even tried uninstalling your app but the Menu item persisted, so I am reporting this bug to Google.
- (2020-03-06) Spooky Kipper: good
- (2020-02-02) Hugo Mak: Has stopped working
- (2019-08-12) Fred Calm: Doesn't work with Brave 0.67.124, which, like Chrome, is built on open-source Chromium. On Windows 10, clicking a mailto: link launches the native Mail app.
- (2019-08-04) Fred Eric: Simple et efficace. Fait ce qu’on lui demande sur vivaldi.
- (2019-07-16) Justin Valerio: Thank baby jesus

- (2019-02-06) Non sense extension no use. I don't know from where it enable now it is not removing.
- (2019-01-18) Simon Hryszko: Work as should work, all well!
- (2018-12-06) Dennis Bareis: Works well here on 64 bit Windows (was redirecting to Inbox, now GMAIL). I want mailto links to open in a new window otherwise you could just set up the Chrome protocol handler (which stupidly doesn't open it in a new window).
- (2018-10-04) Daniel N: Needs to get rid of auto-popup installation page that plagues chrome store extensions. I log into many computers, and get bombarded with intrusive popups from many extensions being installed, and this one is part of the problem.
- (2018-09-15) psychomaniac189: i wanna know why when i click on an email link to send an email it opens TWO windows every time this has been happening forever!
- (2018-08-26) Axel Bohlin: Works for me!
- (2018-07-24) Ning Cao: good
- (2018-06-12) Dustin Westaby: Works fine. To install, I set windows 10 default mail app to be chrome, then installed the extensions and refreshed the website with the mailto link.
- (2018-05-31) Fin Cottle: OK, but would be 50 times better if you could choose which account to use.
- (2018-05-22) Zsolt Tóth: It doesnt work
- (2018-05-10) Pere P: Does not work at all :-(
- (2018-05-09) Shawn Vader: It does not work for me either... On mac it just opens that horrid apple mail application.. Don't want to diss the developers of this plugin because of a chrome change..
- (2018-04-27) Elyse Beaulieu Ovchinnikov: Does not work, even after a restart
- (2018-04-05) Phil Ricketts: Does not work Latest chrome April 2018.
- (2018-03-24) Matsuko Friedland: Not working well for me - it always opens 2 new tabs with the same email.
- (2018-03-14) Maciek Pacyna: Works :)
- (2018-02-12) Très facile d'utilisation, effectivement il manque quelques options (blacklist, exception, etc...) Mais au moins, la fonction mailto: peut être utilisé sans problème ! (Je pense que ça devrait être inclus en option dans Chrome à la base)
