• (2025-07-02) Just installed this today, it was able to solve my biggest issues at the moment, remove shorts and clearly mark videos that I have already watched. I do wish there was some sort of indication of what every feature does, but I am sure I can figure it out, and if not, I will head to your Github page for some answers. Great extension!

• (2025-06-17) Unfortunately it has started to make Youtube very slow, despite ad-blocking function not being activated. I guess some function of the extension is misinterpreted by youtube as an ad-block and so Youtube activates its aggressive anti-ad-blocking function. Hope you will fix this issue.

• (2025-05-25) it seems to work then out of no where the site breaks, youtube flagged me for using a blocker then gave me a black screen. i had to remove all blockers and non worked until i removed this and now youtube works. then i put it back and it still works, but minus the ad. so i don't know if mine was corrupt or an update messed it up but it seems to work again, but it also broke it, so i'm giving it a 3.

• (2025-05-23) Used to work perfectly fine. Now it just breaks YouTube's player. Some of the extra buttons that I want displayed are there, but that's about it - The rest of the functionality is a hit or miss - It will either work or not work at all. In addition to this, some settings won't get enabled or disabled, even if I turn them on or off in the settings of the extension. I will not be using this extension anymore, and I don't recommend anyone else to use it either.

• (2025-05-14) It is sad to me that in order to have a semi-functional enjoyable experience on youtube I have to use 3-4 extensions but this extension makes that easier to forget about. It reminds me of the early days of the internet where the user came first. The amount of options for customization available is really just exciting. The extension does break when first booting chrome requiring you to open a video then refresh the page for some things to work but you usually only have to do that once per boot (small price to pay). The ability to block Youtube Playables, increase or decrease the number of videos per row on the home screen and remove the "for you" section on youtuber's pages would consolidate my extensions by 2. It would also be nice to be able to block videos with fewer than 1000 views that were posted over a day ago as youtube seemingly has been pushing low quality content like crazy recently.

• (2025-05-03) New features must be added due to YouTube's changes. - "Always on Progress bar" problem (the dot still shows after the cursor is moved away). - Fix the videos, posts, and shorts row and column (or customize the row and column choice because YouTube has gotten worse). For the time being, I believe that these two are the most crucial. The last update was in December 2024, which was 5 months ago. Are you still alive, Developer?

• (2025-04-01) Update 01/04/2025. This broke YouTube for me. After months of wondering if my Brave browser was at fault or one of my pihole lists, I decided to make a new fresh browser profile and YouTube worked! Added my normal mix of extensions(bitwarden, editThiscookie, webscrobbler, tamper-monkey) but prior to loading this extension YouTube was working and soon as I installed it YouTube refused to work. What was happening? I was being told my adblocker was being detected and blah blah. Whatever you're doing this is being detected and an ad blocker by YouTube, Think you need to address that. -----Older review-------- The only way to use YouTube, Better than all the other attempts
• (2025-03-29) I used to love the 'Improve YouTube!' 🎧 extension — been a loyal user for many years straight. But lately, it’s been super buggy and kinda broke the whole vibe. Now, whenever I go to the “Videos” tab on any channel, the page just freezes, loads forever, and tanks my entire browser’s performance. The only way out is a full reload — major pain. Another annoying thing: when I resize the browser while watching a video, the video keeps playing, but everything else breaks. I can’t click anything. Whole page just glitches out. And sometimes, my settings don’t even load properly. The extension feels half-broken at this point. On top of that, it automatically pauses every video when I first click play, and also makes YouTube take longer to load in general after turning it on. I even tried enabling features one by one to troubleshoot, starting with the essential ones — still no fix. It sucks, but I had to disable it for now. I really miss using it. Please fix these issues or add an option to prevent all these bugs without slowing down the browser or the site.

• (2025-03-17) I've been using the extension for a long time and had it's problems along the way and got fixed after a while and added some more features I never knew I needed. Recently I noticed that the last update was from December of 2024 and this got me concerned because I have been experiencing some issues with the extension way before that time. I noticed that there are times when the extension fails to function at first page load or reload missing my setting of having the player on theater (wide) mode straight away, or being able to use my shortcut of displaying stats without the usual right-click on video to select. And recently (some time probably after a few youtube updates introducing the new progress bar color gradient), the 'always show progress bar' feature (I use it to gauge my watch time without having to move the mouse and often times some videos doesn't even have a ending phase and goes straight to cut video); It has been failing to keep up with the played part of the video and taking roughly 2 seconds or moving the mouse to update scroll dot positioning. I tried another extension to see if can't be fixed and that extension worked and I can even change the positioning update speed. Another issue is the custom mini player; I can't drag or resize it. It's just a tiny box that is not even centered or edged at the top left part of the screen when scrolling down. I like how I used to read comments and still see from 'the prefered size' of the mini player properly; I still can but from like a large desktop icon size, on a 14" monitor... Hopefully those issues can be addressed soon because this has been my go to extension for customizing yt to almost be perfectly as I want it to be. Along with improve youtube, I have uboL & privacy badger running which I believe shouldn't cause problems with each other (and never have) but I'll mention it just in-case. Thanks!

• (2025-01-31) OMG I can't stand this thing. I have used it for years and it has been amazing. Now none of the settings actually do what they say. For some reason I am forced into theater mode... the option for theater mode being on or off has no difference. For the ability to control a few annoying things on youtube, this has way too many hoops to jump through. SIMPLIFY THIS POS! I literally installed a different addon, Enhancer. WAY Easier to use. Missing two features, so what if I install both. But do no use ANY settings besides a setting my youtube homepage... Still forced into theater mode. I have uninstalled and will not be reinstalling...
• (2025-01-30) Its really good! Unfortunately encountered a glitch where when I go to the videos tab of a channel, it crashes the entire page and doesn't load in

• (2025-01-10) Has been a really good extension in the past but has stopped working properly on the last 2-3 versions of Chrome for me. Popup player, open search in new tab, and several appearance options are completely broken. It maybe could be a compatibility issue with other extensions, but I haven't had any issues with this in the past.

• (2025-01-06) A bunch of cool features I didn't know I needed. Would be incredibly cool though if you could add an option to disable the "gaming details" on the bottom of video descriptions. You have no idea how mad it drives me when I'm trying to click on something on my taskbar while watching a video, but by a couple pixels it hits the gaming bar and loads up a new tab of something irrelevant.

• (2024-12-30) Would give 3.5 stars if half-stars were an option. The "force video to play from the beginning" option under Player doesn't work correctly - videos I've started during a previous session but not finished continue to start where I left off despite having the "force video to play from the beginning" toggle on. (I can't access my GitHub account, since it's linked to an inactive email address; otherwise I would submit a bug report.) I do love having access to "forced theater mode" under Appearance, though!
• (2024-12-29) Buggy as all get out. Every YT video loaded by right-click > 'Open in new tab' has to be CTRL-F5'd on tab focus, if I want audio. I set the settings for 'Disable Up Next autoplay', and I still have to click the freakin' icon in the tray to disable it, or the next up video plays. A lot of work needs to be done, on this one, to make it usable. Do not install.
