Reported and uninstalling Update (further reason to uninstall): I recieved a response to my review that there is an option to disable it. I checked it out, and it says: "By clicking 'Agree' below you grant us permission to collect and process the websites you visit in order to provide you the smoothest browsing experience." Ah, the ol' tried and true method of creating a crisis and selling the solution. Goodbye
• (2024-05-14) Sheldon Jay: Their Website doesn't work. Apparently if you have more than one Chrome-based browser on your computer you have to buy a subscription for EACH!
• (2024-05-06) Stanton McCandlish: Works as expected on most sites (like 99.9%). Just remember that there are some sites with pop-ups you want/need (e.g. reCatpcha mini-windows, etc.), so if some site doesn't work right, try turning this extension off for that site temporarily. This is the best add-on of its sort that I've tried. It's quite rare for a pop-up window, pop-under window, or pop-up tab to bypass this extension. While it does not auto-block overlays (at least not much - maybe it catches some of them), the contextual menu option to remove the overlay works at least 19 times out of 20 (the few that are resistant are probably not HTML/CSS overlays but something else, like actual replacement of the page with a version that looks like it has an overlay on it; I'm not entirely sure without digging into the code that specific sites send to the browser). Update 5 years later: This is still best-in-class, and I consider it essential. Fortunately, you can also import it into many other browsers like Opera, Opera GX, Brave, and Edge (though with some you have to turn on a preferences setting somewhere to permit extensions not from that browser's own official extension site). I've found the maintainers of this plugin very responsive to issue reports, e.g. of sites at which Poper Blocker isn't presently working (usually due to changes at the site in an attempt to defeat ad-blockers).

• (2024-02-12) Alberiansyah: This extension has conflict with Internet Download Manager. With uknown reason my download will be handled by browser and couple second after, IDM starting download too. When i disable this extension all download are handled again by IDM i dont know why.

• (2023-12-27) Mati Hooti: It used to be a nice little extension but nowadays it's ever so slowly turning into an adware that will occassionally barge in and tell you about all its COOL PREMIUM FEATURES. I don't care. Give me an option to turn off any and all popups related to features that are not free. Heck, the extension shouldn't even be allowed to create these popups. It's a popup BLOCKER, not maker. The only redeeming factor is that this behavior is still very rare. But I have no doubts that it's just a matter of time.

The only reason I've installed this extension is to stop intrusive pop-ups. What made you think I'd be ok with the extension adding an unclosable pop-up on every website? Un-installing it and never installing it again. it "used to be" good, now it just acts like an adware. pop-ups are pop-ups. if you've created an add-on to stop pop-ups, you shouldn't add one permanent ad on every webpage I visit.

Now seeing popups saying "This site has trackers on you!" and begging us to upgrade to premium so they can get rid of them. Also, the icon up in the extensions bar now has a permanent "!" on every website to catch the eye. This extension acts as malware behavior now.

From Poper Blocker. I literally need an adblock for my adblockers now, you guys have become the evil you swore to destroy. Edit: 6 months later, lowering it to 1*. I don't know why I didn't get rid of it earlier, but now I am. They've gone insane with the popups saying 'This site has trackers on you!' and begging for me to upgrade to premium so they can get rid of them. Also, the icon up in the extensions bar now has a permanent ! on every website to catch the eye. This isn't a good extension, this is just straight up malware behavior now. Do not install.

I have an adblocker. If they weren't injecting ads I wouldn't be seeing them to begin with. edit again: now there's actual factual real pop ups from the extension itself. "oh no there's a tracker on this website give us money and we'll remove it!" yeah get out of here, geez. And all these paid reviews are super obvious since they only say one or two words and give 5* meanwhile basically every other review is negative with actual feedback.

Then the devs got greedy, and it now begs all the time to be "upgrade to pro", ironically by.... you guessed it... generating a popup on most websites. With a hidden coloured cross so its hard to see how to even close it, but a bright "go pro now!" button. What a joke. Devs, you should be ashamed of yourself. Everyone, avoid this now. Such a shame.
