La infracción de los derechos de autor es una situación cotidiana para los modders. La mayoría de los mods algo populares hoy en día han sido copiados y redistribuidos en un sitio de terceros en algún momento, sin ningún reconocimiento o permiso de sus desarrolladores. Muchos de estos sitios web están alojados en Vietnam o Rusia, y son difíciles de eliminar debido a la legislación sobre derechos de autor. Muchos de estos sitios monetizan ilegalmente sus enlaces de descarga para ganar dinero con el duro trabajo de los modders, y varios incluso llegan hasta el punto de reclamar la propiedad del contenido ilegal. Algunos de ellos son conocidos por albergar malware y virus, y afirman que se trata de mods reales e inofensivos. Esto tiene que terminar.
Cuando las DMCA y los avisos de eliminación fallan, tenemos que confiar en la comunidad para evitar que la gente descargue mods de estas fuentes. - Haciendo saber a la gente que visitar estos sitios pone en peligro sus computadoras. Nadie quiere estar infectado con malware, así que les avisaremos de que los sitios potencialmente pueden dañar sus máquinas.
Los sitios sobre los que esta extensión advierte son los mismos sitios que se listan en https://github. om/StopModReposts/Illegal-Mod-Sites y se actualiza cada pocos días o horas con nuevos hosts.

Love to see the community doing something about this, I can't count the amount of times I've seen friends download from these sites and their machines are infected and then they never try modded again (and a younger more naïve version of me may have done the same in the past). Great extension to just let run and then forget about.

A useful feature, I dunno how easy it'd be to implement, but when you go to a certain repost site, there is an option to redirect to the legitimate mod download. I know this'd probably be a pain to implement each individual site though.
