Pelanggaran hak cipta adalah situasi sehari hari bagi para pembuat modifikasi. Sebagian besar modifikasi yang agak populer saat ini pada titik tertentu telah disalin dan didistribusikan kembali secara ilegal ke situs pihak ketiga, tanpa pengakuan atau izin dari pengembangnya. Banyak dari situs web ini dihosting di Vietnam atau Rusia, dan sulit untuk dihapus karena undang-undang hak cipta yang berbeda. Banyak dari situs ini secara ilegal memonetisasi tautan unduhan mereka untuk mendapatkan uang dari kerja keras para modder, dan beberapa bahkan mengklaim kepemilikan konten ilegal. Beberapa dari mereka diketahui meng-host malware dan virus dan mengklaim bahwa ini adalah mod yang nyata dan tidak berbahaya. Ini harus dihentikan.
Saat DMCA dan pemberitahuan penghapusan gagal, kami harus mengandalkan komunitas untuk menghentikan orang mengunduh mod dari sumber ini. Situs yang diperingatkan oleh ekstensi ini adalah situs yang sama dengan yang terdaftar di https://github.com/StopModReposts/Illegal-Mod-Sites dan diperbarui setiap beberapa hari atau jam dengan host baru.

W.: Love to see the community doing something about this, I can't count the amount of times I've seen friends download from these sites and their machines are infected and then they never try modded again (and a younger more naïve version of me may have done the same in the past). Great extension to just let run and then forget about.
