Нарушение авторских прав - это повседневная ситуация для авторов модов. Большинство довольно популярных модов сегодня в какой-то момент уже были незаконно скопированы и распространены на сторонних сайтах, без какого-либо согласия или разрешения их разработчиков. Многие из этих сайтов размещены во Вьетнаме или России, и их сложно заблокировать ввиду различий в законах об авторском праве. Многие из этих сайтов незаконно монетизируют их ссылки на скачивание, чтобы получать доход с тяжёлого труда создателей модов, а некоторые из них даже претендуют на владение незаконным контентом. Некоторые из них известны распространением вредоносных программ и вирусов, хоть и заявляют, что это настоящие безопасные моды. Это должно прекратиться.
Когда DMCA и предупреждения о блокировке не срабатывают, нам приходится опираться на сообщество, чтобы люди прекратили скачивать моды из этих источников. Хотя многие из сайтов, участвующих в действиях, описанных выше, выглядят хорошо оформленными и официальными, запутывая многих игроков и заставляя их верить в то, что эти сайты действительно настоящие. В результате многие компьютеры заражаются вирусами и вредоносными программами, авторы модов теряют доход и репутацию и получают множество сообщений о багах, которые уже были исправлены в более новых версиях их модов, так как на незаконных сайтах размещаются только старые версии. Stop Mod Reposts разработан для того, чтобы это прекратить. Вот как мы планируем это сделать:
- Дать людям понять, что сайты незаконны. Мы никак не можем остановить людей от использования этих сайтов, когда они не знают, что действия их владельцев противозаконны и что владельцы не осведомлены о правах авторов модов. Поэтому это расширение будет показывать предупреждение поверх содержимого таких сайтов.
- Дать людям понять, что посещение этих сайтов ставит под угрозу безопасность их компьютеров. Никто не хочет заразиться вредоносными программами, поэтому мы будем предупреждать людей о том, что сайты могут потенциально навредить их устройствам.
Сайты, о которых предупреждает данное расширение, можно найти в списке на https://github.com/StopModReposts/Illegal-Mod-Sites, который пополняется каждые пару дней или часов.

Love to see the community doing something about this, I can't count the amount of times I've seen friends download from these sites and their machines are infected and then they never try modded again (and a younger more naïve version of me may have done the same in the past). Great extension to just let run and then forget about.

A useful feature, I dunno how easy it'd be to implement, but when you go to a certain repost site, there is an option to redirect to the legitimate mod download. I know this'd probably be a pain to implement each individual site though.
