• (2024-10-02) Caleb Work Miller: I mean, it's okay. The overriding CSS doesn't load quickly enough sometimes which means a nice unhealthy blast of bright white to the eyes when opening a new site when I'm in a dark room. EDIT 12/23: The issue in which the dark CSS loads only after white has been resolved and I noticed no other issues. This app has been a lifesaver for my eyes and I've come to realize that is a very legitimate health concern. Many thanks to the developers for crafting such a useful product. EDIT 10/24: I keep coming back with my reviews because this has turned into the single best extension I have ever used for Chrome. It just works on most every site and along with blue light glasses, it has completely fixed the vision problems that have come as a result of working with computers. THANK YOU!

• (2024-02-15) Ali Mubarak: Have used it more than 2 years now without any issues, but it seems the latest update corrupted dynamic, now for example Youtube thumbnails are taking the global settings which make them darker. Have observed a similar behavior in Instagram photos, please fix this back to how it was! Edit: This has been fixed a long time ago now!

• (2024-01-16) Murk Fisher: Lightweight and simple. Can enable on selected sites or on all sites. Can toggle "Disable by Default" so that you only use it on websites you need. Set keyboard shortcut to quickly toggle on/off, for example: ALT+D.

You can assign a keyboard shortcut, so I just press a few buttons and BOOM, any website looks so much better. I've rarely found websites that don't change, and even less that look buggy afterword. Really a must have for browsing on a PC!

• (2023-12-05) Eric Ketzer: The best of these dark mode extensions. it fails though on some sites or on some widgets to reverse the white in black and the black in white, so some posts on websites and such remain black letters on white background. Also on some other sites, when a page loads it will flash white. It could be better.

• (2023-11-21) Sheree Tunghayan: I started using Dark Reader three years ago. My eyes feel so much less strain when I look at the computer. However, I started receiving errors since last Tuesday, Nov14 when I tried to access Slack online. Nothing changed even after I uninstalled and added the extension. Later I discovered that Slack is the only website that gets the error. Perhaps because Slack has a dark mode already, so I just disabled the extension for Slack only.

Thanks Update 3, 6.6.23, on google translate page, the right side (the side where the translated text appears) of the page remain white only when i put a word oreven a letter. Why? So far, is the best extention for Chrome. Update, some sites, doesn't dark theme. Update 2, in some pages, "delete" the background video when dark it.

• (2023-10-28) 1 2: One of my favorite browser extensions. The most recent update seems to have partially broken it though. Tabs will load a complete dark/blank page, which refreshing wont fix. Have to close tab and open a new then return to the site. Also a bug when minimizing the browser then returning it would cause the page to render a dark blank page. Temporarily disabling this until it can be fixed. Not sure if its the browser update or extension update that broke it, but hope to see it fixed soon! Besides that one thing, I've never had a single issue with this extension. Every website loaded correctly, could not notice any slowdown in browser functions/page load times, and worked flawlessly when disabling for certain sites.
• (2023-10-27) Alexander Mcpherson: Was great for a whilst, but I think the latest chrome updates (or the websites I visit) have broken it that some sites just wont toggle on - even though some, like fanfiction.net, I've always had set to on. Still darkmodes wikipedia, for instance, so its not a blanket 'doesn't work'.

Use allowlist to have a custom dark theme for several websites, and then use another chrome extension called "Sites Dimmer - sharp brightness reduction" to reduce the brightness of any other website automatically, and you might have to exclude the ones which you've configured in "Dark Reader". Now you can use HDR in chrome w/o disturbing bright colors.
