• (2023-12-06) Josh Blakeney: Okay extension until they expire your "trial" and limit the features that make it useful. The auto conversion to light/dark mode based on system settings is neat, and works on most pages, though while you have it enabled, you cannot tweak settings on individual sites if they don't function properly on that particular site, which is an easily fixable oversight. Does not work well on in-browser pdf viewing, and if you force dark mode on those, it reverses the color pallets and all images in the PDF turn into eerie shades of blue, like old film negatives. All features are disabled upon expiration of the initial trial version, and a 5 site limit is imposed. They then coerce you to make an account, fill out a survey, and write a review (hence this post) with screenshot proof in exchange for additional months added to the premium license. I will update this review below if I find a FOSS alternative that is worthwhile. Edit: Dark Reader is a fantastic replacement and is just flat out better. Claims to be open source (though I don't have the knowhow to verify if it actually is or not) and it is 100% free with no caveats or sucker punches like these dirtbags try on you. Pages load faster and it works great, the only caveat is that it doesn't automatically change from light to dark based on system settings and you don't have site by site adjustments. If you are dead set on an extension or features that the native browser settings lack, Dark Reader is still your best bet.

I also work a late shift so the sun goes down about 1hour after I start my work day so not having the dark mode was really straining on my eyes. The software does a good job (though not perfect) of running the software in dark mode. It does exactly what I hoped it would do, what more can I ask for. The pricing is also INCREDIBLY reasonable. 3 month free trial with the ability to extend your free trial by another 5 or 6 months. But, even if you decide to upgrade to a paid version it is very inexpensive, only about $0.03 per work day. And, if you don't want to worry about subscriptions there is a pay once option for only $40. Totally worth it.

  I noticed over the past few days or perhaps even weeks that my computer was going into high CPU load. I traced that down to a problem with this extension. When I disable the extension when this happens the CPU instantly drops down and the problem does not reoccur with Chrome running. Minutes after re-enabling the extension it goes back up to a very high CPU load. Can you please help? This extension was working well before and I love it.   Can you please advise why your Chrome extension is breaking the Twitter Website? While the extension is enabled, if I set my Twitter Display Settings to "Dim", refreshing the page resets it, even if I have switched Nighteye off from within the extension. Only if I disable the extension entirely from the 'Manage Extensions' page does it remember the setting on Twitter.   Hi, I notice that in the screenshots for your Google Calendar page, you show that the Tasks sidebar is also in dark mode.   Hi, I am using a website and within the website there is a separate app turned on that shows up on the website but is managed from a different site. It shows in a frame within a section of a website. I can't seem to find a way to turn of Night Eye for that particular app frame even though the website itself has Night Eye turned off. I even tried going to the app developer's website where the documentation for the app is housed and turned it off there but that didn't seem to affect the frame. I've encountered this a few times and would like for it to stop.

  I can find no such settings anywhere in Chrome Version 83.0.4103.97 (Official Build) (64-bit). In Chrome's extension window, there is no "settings", the only options are to details, remove, or show keyboard shortcuts. Under Chromes settings, there is no such option. I can not switch to "Filtered or Normal" because it states OS/Browser color scheme integration is activated.
